I remember asking my auld lad who he supported and he said WBA cos Johnny Giles was manager. I had a quick look at Wikipedia there and it must have been the 83/84 season.
Giles was long gone from WBA by 1984
I think it was 1975-1977 he managed them, then he went to Rovers
