I’ve always loved that reference

When I First Came to Town on Henry’s Dream.

I’m interested to hear you develop this thought a bit more. Isn’t your second sentence there, that they were anti establishment, the very definition of punk? Of course they grew way beyond the perceived boundaries of punk music, but does that mean they were never punk? I don’t think so myself.

An amazing album. Like you said about bands growing and developing as albums go on, each clash album had a different sound, atmosphere. It’s a mark of the top top bands.

I couldn’t say that I have a favourite but the albums I always return to are

Pixies - Doolittle
Pixies - Surfer Rosa
Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
The Beatles - Sgt. Peppers
The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour
The Beatles - Revolver
Nirvana - Nevermind
Bon Iver - For Emma
Midlake - The Trials of Can Occupanther
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik
The Chemical Brothers - Surrender
Jurassic 5 - Quality Control

How did I forget those?

FYI Thomas Brady: Have you checked out Rat Patrol at Fort Bragg? it’s original mix of Combat Rock, it’s over 70 mins and a bit looser, mixed by Mick Jones, got vetoed to be released after Double/Triple album Sandinista was much too long, it flows v well

In that case I’d have to say

Lads are starting to ruin this

The OP set out clear criteria and you’ve lads here thinking they’re the John Cusack character in High Fidelity

Lads coming on and commenting negatively about multiple suggestions, praising a multiple selection and yet not putting up any album(s). You couldn’t make it up.
