Unless you’re Cork
Kiely wants to prove a point.
Near as dammit to the championship team, so much for shadow boxing.
He’ll have a few more chances. Feels like a big year for this rivalry, could meet four more times.
What point is that?
Put the Cork lads back in their box.
You’d want a fairly big box
Lad when cork kick the shit out of that team JK has nowhere to go
He’s gone all in
They’re brave men if they are out of their box on the back of a few laygue wins
We’ve got a load of tall lads these days for sure.
In a league match?
Limerick dont play first round of championship… Kiely is using the league to have players up to speed… weve had a glut of injuries tho and has now set us back big time.
That would be ideal really.
He could go hurling sliotars into a field?
11 of the 15 knocking around since 2018…I worry about the HB line a bit. Looking forward to it though but the only drawback is I’ve to drive back up to the big schmoke afterwards, I’d much prefer to be heading into town afterwards.
A wave of sadness came over me when I viewed that Limerick selection & saw the same old names being pitched wearily into battle yet again. What’s driving the lack of evolution? Is it a complete absence of talent breaking through, management staying on too long, or perhaps a psychological need to prove these players can win the big one when it isn’t a blitz played in front of Rob Ryan & a few journalists?
A tale as old as time, a manager staying loyal to the old soldiers for too long. Of course, its also the case that the younger lads simply arent up to shifting the lads either. In truth Kiely probably should have stepped away, but with no other job to do what else would be do with himself?
I think it is obvious that the likes of Colin Coughlin won’t be trusted to nail down a spot barring a raft of injuries. They brought on a finished Declan Hannon in the Munster final ahead of him and Conor Lehane had the run of the place as Hannon couldn’t get close to him in extra time, only to turn to Hannon again over Coughlin two weeks later v Dublin when the game was going away from them with similar results.
Kiely is right to squeeze every last bit out of his team in one way - blooding young lads will be for the next manager - O’Connor has kicked on but still I think they need some freshness, one or two more lads to add a bit more energy to things. Matthew Fitzgerald looks a prospect but will they trust him over one of the core come championship?
Yes, just the 5 All Ireland’s to look back on!
I’d say @Bandage nodded along sagely with that while not having a clue who Colin Coughlan is
