Kaboom. A volcanic-induced nuclear winter would send a few lads on here completely over the edge.
Hasn’t Indonesia just rolled out their 5G network?
Will they cancel a few flights I wonder?
If he gets up
Small quakes are good news. Means the pressure on faults are being released.
Would 6.5 not be considered big enough?
Not in a place with good EQ proof planned infrastructure. Away from sea (tsunamis) and mountain (landslides) also helps.
The Richter scale is logarithmic. A 6 is ten times stronger than a five. A 7 is one hundred times stronger.
Earthquakes over 7.5 in developed countries are the ones to worry about. Smaller ones in poorer countries such as Haiti or Nepal cause damage alright though.
Every day is a school day. Thank you

Signing in. 6.5 would definitely get your attention and has the potential to do a lot of damage, any older buildings built with stone or brick aren’t going to do well. The last relatively big one we had in NorCal was a 6.0 in Napa in 2014, over $1B in damage. You get used to the smaller ones.
I should know about as I was doing LC Geography this year.
Incredible scenes from France on the news there. Some amount of water.
Only came across the full details of this recently. Outrageous.
Big Earthquake on Turkey - Syria border
1200 dead and rising. Those poor Syrians aren’t having much luck lately
And now reports of a second quake measuring 7.5
Sounds like the deathtoll could be extremely high.
