Aye. I’m not particularly mad about the term, although I think it was first used about an album I’m very fond of (Hex by Bark Psychosis) by Simon Reynolds. Would usually associated it with something more instrumental or experimental or with more loud/quiet dynamics. To me, the Fontaines are more post punk influenced, but as you say, all these labels/genres are somewhat subjective/interchangeable
Fair enough, we’ll agree on post punk rock. I actually read a review there now that had post rock in the title and post punk in the first sentence. In terms of moving away from traditional rock sounds Joy Division were probably the most influential. Hex is a great album, Spiderland another classic of the genre.
Spiderland one of my favourite albums of all time. Once told Pajo that while I was absolutely hammered
Are they that big in Liverpool? They’ve a couple of good tracks but they’re hardly gonna take over the world.
Good man. Would have been the breakthrough year for Paddy, ah well
Had it on the to do list for a while… He’s as good as anything we’ve produced in a while.
Their last one was a very decent effort.
Ronan Collins played this today, new music from Power of dreams, they were a top band back in the day and this is decent enough

Immigrants Emigrants and Me was a brilliant record
by lads still in their teens
Orla Gartlands album “Woman on the Internet” is a triumph and a joy to listen to.
I prefer their early stuff.
TFK’s favourite genre
As you might say yourself, why am I not surprised.
Never heard of this lass before. Sad story.
