I wonder what Rupert makes of all this. Once upon a time, the type of ājournalismā he encouraged was underpinned by his belief that he was fighting the patrician elites who didnāt like people communicating with the common man the way he did. Who does he blame now?
The common man was only ever a leg up for Rupert, heās the most elitist of people there is.
Great scenes today with Brooks and Brooks (and a couple of others) charged with obstructing the course of justice.
Rebekah was straight on the offensive, breaking the story herself and standing with her husband as they bitterly attacked the motives of those who brought the charges. It was quite funny actually, the little look from Rebekah to Charlie when she mentioned āthose close to meā and Charlie nodding away in agreement when Rebekah made her points. It was evidently rehearsed but poor Rebekah stumbled over her lines once or twice, betraying some of the worry sheās doing her best to hide.
Rebekah is a dead ringer for an Irish sports star whose name escapes me.
its quite a remarkable resemblance
Astonishing that Jeremy Hunt is still in his job and I donāt understand how Cameron hasnāt been irreparably damaged by yesterdayās news either.
Basically Leveson inquiry revealed a letter Hunt wrote to Cameron and urged him to allow the BSkyB deal to go ahead and to rein in Vince Cable who was in charge of the decision at the time. When the decision on the merger was taken away from Cable a couple of weeks later, Cameron gave the job to Hunt and both Cameron and Hunt now maintain that he was independent and wouldnāt let his personal opinion affect his decision. They gave the adjudication job on a massive corporate deal to a guy who had lobbied extensively for one viewpoint and think that was a reasonable decision.
So Andy Coulson and Rebekkah Brooks eh?
More details.
While David Cameron was out horseriding with David Brooks, the formerās press secretary was riding the latterās wife.
Old colleagues from The Sun, right? Thatās the big affair that the papers were saying could bring down the UK government, I take it?
I understand that to be the case.
Charlie Brooks? If this is the big scandal that is supposed to have the potential to topple the Tories then Iām disappointed. Yer wan is an awful slut, looks like a witch too.
I am 99% sure I typed Charlie. Weird.
Source please Rocko.
The papers have been warned about their coverage of upcoming trials of RB and AC. Astute observers are putting that info with the affair info and concluding thatās the story.
There were also rumours that Rebekah came home early one night and caught her then husband, Grant from Eastenders, in bed with another man. She was arrested for assaulting him that night!!
She really is a vile bitch and I hope she goes to jail.
Ah fuck, is that it? I heard something on the radio yesterday about how something big was about to break that could lead to a huge constitutional crisis in britannia. I was hoping for wills and harry to be revealed to be the bastard childer of some gigilo. But this is it? Fucks sake. She should go to jail for getting our hopes up.
(Mind you, I have her in the Celebrity Deaths lottery, so maybe, just maybe, this could lead to her fortunate and sudden demise, which would put me in the lead in that august competition).
An interesting list of items found in a briefcase belonging to Charlie Brooks that was seized by police investigating the news hacking at news of the world:
Must have been a fairly big briefcase
