Unless it’s a loan deal we don’t seem to be able to conclude deals under the radar or at speed. We seem utterly incapable of concluding more than one deal at a time.
MON said after the Boro game that he hopes we get one or two in before the league opener. I’d be surprised if we do and if we manage to get players in, with the way Celtic operate it will only be loan deals. I think the most likely deals we will do will be the United keeper and CB on loan deals.

That’s 10 players in just over 6 weeks. For context, the Duran links broke on the 19th June and he was announced on the 10th July. It took us 3 weeks to conclude that signing.
The last 3 transfer windows have been all time shitshows - one worse than the other. The level of incompetence at executive level is scary. Nicholson is paid 800k a year and openly admitted that he is not able to do his job. Every other club on the planet don’t find agents too difficult to deal with, are able to conclude mutliple deals at the same time and carry them out swiftly. If he can’t negotiate transfers he should either appoint someone who can and delegate that to them or resign.

In light of @Bandage acknowledgement, I have decided for the coming season to let bygones be bygones and I wont bring up that he and @Rocko were wrong with regard to the board, Lennon and the rat.
When the rat first came back and promised he would be there for the three years, a poster said it a wrong move as the board would have him by the balls, that was proved right.
I think the last season proved what a change in Manager can bring about and Lennon should have been sacked in the October of the 10 in a row year.
I think its acknowledged what the board are like.
I hope now that the Celtic family on the TFK are unified in what we want for the club and we can move on.
Another area of the club being shambolically being managed by the board is our youth academy. We are keeping the likes of Forrest, Ralston, Murray around for the sole reason that they are home grown players. I don’t think we have an issue with producing young players at our Academy but we have a sever issue retaining them. If any youth player has interest shown in them before they sign their pro contract Celtic throw the towel in. We have loads of money but no interest in investing it in the team.
Over the past 2 years or so we have lost the likes of Vata, Doak, Kelly, Jikiemi, Rennie, Cummings, Borland to EPL clubs or Championship clubs. We get the recycled narrative that we can’t compete with these clubs financially - of course we can - we just don’t value our youth players.
Like what do we seriously think West Ham were offering Cummings or Watford were offering Vata or Liverpool were offering Doak? Do we think they were being offered 40k a week to play for their Academy sides. No, they weren’t. Agents have two interests to their players - their development as footballers and their monetary package. In all these cases, these young lads are settled in Glasgow, have families surrounding them there at a very important stage of their lives, are more likely to get first team chances at Celtic than EPL sides and is some cases they grew up as Celtic fans - so this all leans in Celtics favour. I would imagine if terms are similar on offer, 9 times out of 10 they will be advised to stay at Celtic.
The issue lies with us being aghast at the prospect at having to pay a 15/16/17/18 year old 2k-10k a week. We think that is madness. I fully believe if Celtic went and offered a generational talent like Doak a 3/4 year deal at 8k a week and bit of a signing on bonus he would have stayed. Instead we probably offered him 800 a week and told him if he breaks into the first team we will look at it. In that case an agent will always advise a young lad to take the money as they are potentially 1 bad injury from not making it at that stage of their careers.
A 3 year deal at 5k a week works out at 750k over the duration of the contract. That is well within Celtic’s reach but we don’t value our young players. We will hand professional deals to the players who generate no interest and generally they will turn out to be the ones who won’t make it. We will let the talented ones slip through our grasp because of the austerity program Peter Lawwell introduced to the club 20 years ago.
When we can find money to spend on bargain basement punts like Shin, Kwon, Tilio and Holm but insult our most promising youth academy prospects with apprentice wages - it just shows how incompetent the club is from top to bottom.
That’s incredible leadership by the poster @Bandage in fairness. One brief, genuine intervention has ended years of rancour. Not one mention either of the challenges of competing with the Premier League in England, the English Championship or the Turkish second tier, or the difficulties dealing with agents & advisers, how hard it is to resolve anything during a World Cup or a Euros or during the summer or during the winter.
I am envisaging a situation similar to last year where a statement is going to come out from Celtic and they are going to announce MON has stepped down for health reasons and Robbie Keane has been announced as his replacement.
Desmond seemed intent on announcing him as our new manager in the summer despite the massive opposition from the fans on the basis of his past in Israel. He is also a fairly shit manager who is under qualified for the job but he ticks two boxes for Desmond in that he is a high profile Irish man and he will be beholden to Desmond for the job.
There was a long delay in appointing MON and it became obvious the talk on Keane was real. Season ticket renewals were still in progress at the time and the board I think did a u turn and went with MON. I don’t think that have given up foisting Keane upon us and I think there is a good chance it will now happen with MONs current situation.
I’m sure Desmond will be talking to MON in the coming days and he’s a 74 year old in an immensely stressful job where his superiors only know about chaos and division and pit the manager at the forefront of it. If it’s his heart then without question the medical advice will be to step awat. If MON does step away it will be simultaneously announced with his replacement and we all know ego Desmond wants for the job.
Keane is the same guy who managed to lose a title with a side who win the Hungarian league every year and just about stumbled across the line this year. He resigned over the summer to take up the Celtic job and this was scuppered by fan objections. I’m convinced this is being worked away on in the background.
Desmond is like Donald Trump, there’s no accountability or acknowledgement of wrongs. He is a very sensitive, very personal egomaniac who double down on himself despite the fact it’s so obvious on clueless he is in that role.

So I wouldn’t say it was heart related and it’s likely it wasn’t planned as I’m sure he’d have it taken care prior to the season start if so.
Sure as I said during the week, he looked in better nick than Pressley. He strikes me as a man who’d absolutely look after himself.
