All credit to nurses but thereā€™s always bad ones upon the good

People get either Lazy or Complacent. Happens in all walks of life unfortunately.

Thatā€™s bad in fairness

A cap on the amount medics at the top can earn would be a start. The rewards at the top end are so far beyond what people are worth it is grotesque. Not only that, it inevitably changes the behaviour of those involved.

A removal of the state indemnity and making them personally liable for things that are outside the norm would also focus attention and may bring the level of skill and care that the salary warrants.

Itā€™s not the standard salary, itā€™s the overall earnings.

Theyā€™ll never manage this until they make more positions and train enough doctors for there to be decent competition for positions.

There would be competition for most posts if the ludicrous expectation of many at the top was pressured down.

Thats a part of it but I think it needs to start from the bottom up. Create conditions where junior doctors donā€™t have to work insane numbers of unpaid overtime hours to keep the whole thing running. Create conditions where doctors actually want to stay within the irish system, so that we actually have enough doctors and more competing for senior posts. Create enough senior posts so that there is competition between them. Take as much of the management function as you can away from consultants as many of them are utter cunts who abuse their staff and the system and all around them.

The conditions of work are nowhere near as bad as painted.

Why canā€™t they retain staff so? Why would you work a 90 hour week in a place falling apart at the seams when you can go to Australia and do your rostered hours and progress faster in your career?

I donā€™t trust our health system one bit

My first time going to a woman doctor today, had a great experience thought it was somthing Iā€™d never do. Even when she told me I was in good health I nearly believed her. Will go again.

Iā€™ve never (willingly) gone to a male doctor in my life ā€¦ Who wants a man poking around in their bits?

@glasagusban

If youā€™d stop riding dirty yokes the doctor wouldnā€™t need to go anywhere near your bits

Lolz.

Good one.
