Myself and Mrs Barnes are staying in Fota on Saturday night. We were thinking of heading into Cobh Saturday night for a few pints. Can any of you cultured Corconians recommend a decent pub or two?

Can’t help you. Cobh is part of the UK.

Cobh is the equivalent of Chernobyl kid.

Says the lad living in Passage!

Mrs O’Sullivan wouldn’t let her grandkids grow up in passage.

Cobh is nice but there’s defo a very ‘Anglo’ feel to the town. It was a “Treaty Port” after all. It’s unlike any other town in East Cork.

I wouldn’t go to Cobh. Assuming ye will be getting a taxi then much of a muchness to go to carrigtwohill or over to the Rising Tide in glounthane which is a very nice bar

Was down there a few weeks ago and went to The Elm Tree on recommendations here and it was excellent. Alot better than the food in the hotel bar. If you’re going, book an early slot. Seemed to be alot waiting on tables later on.

“Big” port or seaside towns take on a life of their own. Youghal isn’t particularly similar to the rest of East Cork either.
