That makes sense too I suppose, I was possibly an adult before I realised that was the proper name, which might be considered a disadvantage
We called them Torytops
Thereās a Tory Hill in Limerick between Crecora and Croom. In fact, several years ago the two clubs had an underage amalgamation called Tory Gaels.
They played a very conservative brand of football.
Never knew that was just a cork thing
Iād imagine all that comes from the original meaning of Tory, i.e. bandits, highway men, robbers etc
āTorā is an old name for a hill though, isnāt it? Hill Hill, basically.
Something like calling Japanās largest mountain Mount Fuji when Fuji is the Japanese word for mountain.
Nice story here
Br Prunty would not have accepted a lad calling a pine cone anything else other than a pine cone.
Itās like writing FFS sake. Thatās sake as in āfor FFSā rather than āBertie Ahern must stand down for FFās sakeā or a reference to the Japanese alcoholic drink.
Also a Tory Hill in South Kilkenny. Between Mullinavat and Glenmore.
Cracker by ROG there
RIP to the poor 13 year old girl who passed away in West Cork, while racing a car.
Apologies if this seems voyeuristic on my behalf, but I would have thought the minimum age for this sport would have been 16
Would it be more dangerous than Karting? Iād never heard of it before
Havenāt heard about hot rod in about thirty years.
Youād still see fellas going around with the hot rods on a trailer in the South East. No idea where the tracks are though.
Is it Hot Rod? They have a different name on the reporting
RIP to the young girl. Is this a form of field racing as opposed to your traditional road racing? I remember a lad from that neck of the woods in college doing it during the summer when the field were dry and after being cut.
Looks like hot rod. I had cousins used to race it years ago.
