anyone else on ntl broadband…has slowed to a crawl for third evening in a row…rang the cunts there now but theyre swamped with calls…30 min wait time minimun…called them this afternoon and they said the had whatever was wrong sorted… hatefull shower of baxtards…
Its because of the volcanic ash no doubt.
We’re on it and it’s running okay in south Dublin city centre.
10mb here running at around 1.5mb…just across the river…i wouldnt mind but they have a recorded message up saying they are swamped with calls and if your call isnt urgent call back tomorrow…cheeky cunts… i was just calling for a chat…!!! oh well…aaarrrggghhhhhhh
I’m out in Fingal and it’s not running all that brilliantly I’d have to say. I’m on the 20MB package. But I’m wireless here so think my wireless connection is limiting that and can’t be arsed firing up the desktop.
i got some bull today about lines being split overloaded etc but was told it was all sorted out…up to 4.3mb here now…actually as an aside whats the craic with these ping tests …any time iv done one when download was fine (tipping round the 10mb mark) the ping test still returns a big f for fail…is this down to the quality of the line or what … was piggy backing on the neighbours eircom before i got the ntl in and that speed was round the 2mb mark and in comparison the 10mb ntl (when at good download speed) doesnt seem all that much faster…
Ah, Ping. The gamers will know what Ping is.
The companies will want you to have a high ping (> 100) as this is the time taken to go adn come back from doing an action.
If you have high ping while gaming you’re dead. My ping is around 28.
If you want your ping dropped (if you’re gaming alot) then you need to ring them up and ask them to turn off the latency. They will say no and you can just tell them to do it.
This is my understanding of it anyway. Do a search for Ping/Latency.
Tom.
