Thatās what Iām concluding as @Fagan ODowd tells me thereās no wheat in Beckās lager.
@Kinvaras Passion, what about corn tortillas as a wheat replacement?
What bread did you eat? Please name and shame the brand.
I used to eat different brands of brown multigrain bread. Thatās supposedly a healthier type of bread too.
I had two sandwiches yesterday, day just panned out that way! Iām bloated as fuck today.
I had spelt bread a couple of weeks ago- used spelt base for home made pizza- It cleaned me out!
Hereās what I found online, pal. It has to be true.
Iām really intrigued with new information Iāve seen about the negative health effects of eating wheat. Stick with me, please. This isnāt just the usual gluten-free stuff that is so trendy today. It effects all of us and and it makes complete sense to me.
According to Dr. Mark Hyman, author of The Blood Sugar Solution and several other books, wheat contains:
- a super starch that is more fattening than pure sugar;
- a super gluten that is highly inflammatory and
- a super drug that is addictive and makes you crave more.
Modern day hybrid wheat and gluten is hybridized and genetically manipulated with odd proteins for high yielding plants that have many times more gluten than the ancient form eaten by our ancestors. Itās found not only in the obvious places like bread, baked goods and pasta, but in many, if not most, processed floods including ice cream, spaghetti sauce, spice mixes, french fries and soy sauce.
The evil culprit that is effecting so many of us is amylopectin-A, a starch that raises blood sugar faster than pure sugar, increasing inflammation and the risk of obesity and diabetes. White or whole grain, it makes no difference. All wheat products contains amylopectin-A that, among other things, leads to a widely recognized condition called āwheat belly,ā or the dangerous belly fat that causes an cascade of inflammatory responses, all of them with dire health effects.
The super gluten that Dr. Hyman calls FrankenWheat, a chromosomally altered molecule that not only triggers the modern-day epidemic of celiac disease and gluten-intolerance, but also more subtly and equally insidiously causes obesity and diabetes. Dr. Hyman goes into great depth on super gluten in his Huffington Post article.
Finally, there is the addictive nature of the modern-day wheat that triggers binge eating. As Dr. Hyman points out, āNo one binges on broccoli, but they binge on cookies or cake.ā Thatās because the wheat proteins are converted by the digestive system into substances called gluetomorphins (yes the same root word as morphine), highly addictive polypeptides that quickly cross the blood-brain barrier and quite literally give you a high and make you crave more.
Nobody binges on plain pasta though so how does he explain that
Cookies and cake taste sweet which to my is a more logical explanation as to why people binge on them - like chocolate. People also tend to binge on salty foods like crisps and chips. Because they taste nice.
LOVE WHITE BREAD, BUT FEEL TOO GUILTY TO EAT IT
Brennans survey has revealed that 82% of Irish people enjoy the taste of white bread with a fifth of all people questioned saying they ālove itā. But over a third of people surveyed said they donāt eat it because they think it is bad for them and a quarter of people revealed that they donāt eat it because they think white bread is ātoo fatteningā, with a further 21% stating that it makes them feel bloated.
Contrary to these widespread beliefs, Brennans Bread supports the āAnalysis of Bread Consumption in Irish Adults and Children conducted by IUNAā (Irish Universities Nutrition Alliance) which shows that white bread is in fact good for you as it contains many positive benefits and is the lowest contributor of fat of any food group in the Irish diet.
Dr Mary McCreery, Consultant Clinical Nutritionist and Dietician at Blackrock Clinic supports this by saying āIn addition to all of the positive nutrients that white bread provides, it is one of the lowest fat products that people can consume, contributing only 1% of their total fat intakeā. A recent review by the British Nutrition Foundation concluded that there is no scientific evidence that white bread, whether produced by modern or traditional methods, causes bloating or gastrointestinal discomfort.

Itās not about fat content ffs!! More misleading horseshit. Fat is good for the body, we need fats- a certain amount and from the right sources of course. Itās carbs and how these other wheats are stored in the body that is the problem. Just because something is low-fat doesnāt make it good for you, usually the opposite.
So i should start shopping in the gluten free section of superquinn? Yes or no? And will it remain so well stocked after the conversion to super valu and influx of the lower classes, or will i have to start forking out for health shop alternatives.
I just ate a galaxy bar
I have just eaten a ābrownā roll with a hot chicken fillet, mayonaisse and cheese, and washed down with a can of coke.
Fuck ye all.

A man can not live on hollowed out rolls aloneā¦
No. Cut bread out to fcuk.
Bread is convenient. You donāt have many options if you are looking to grab a quick, cheap, filling lunch.
Answer me on corn tortillas and rye bread dammit.
So I am queuing for takeway sandwich at lunchtime, the same place does carvery and there is a bit of queue ahead of me. I am reading away on the TFK app and observing a group of women just ahead of me. 2 overweight ladies and a slimmer friend. They are talking about a pending wedding of the thinner lady and complimenting her on how well she looks, one of the larger ladies passes a comment about how sheāll find it hard to get something to wear for the wedding even though she has taken up running of late and has been putting in alot of effort exercise wise.
Thinner lady hits the counter first and gets here Caeser Salad.
Large lady number 1 has a full carvery with a wheelbarrow of spuds and a half a gallon of gravy. Large lady number 2 does the same thing.
You couldnāt make it up.
Sorry pal.
Lightly to be GM produced if they are from Maize so god knows what effect theyāll have on your gut lining and blood sugars.
Still something will kill us someday!

What did you get in the end?
TFK is easily the most health conscious sports forum on the air
