Congrats to Cork. A long time coming
The famine is over.
âHow oft do my thoughtsâŚâ
Well done Cork
That was disappointing. Cork just bigger and better. The shit start really killed us. We actually held their key men Barrett and Connolly quite well but they had a real spread of scorers and were comfortably the better team. We stuck at it gamely but never really looked like winning.
A fair achievement!!!
Jimmy Doyle.
Not bad company to be in.
Jimmy Doyle played in 4 All Ire minor finals. His autobiography is a great read.
Ditto.
? Subs made immediate impact when we werenât any ball in our half-forward line, Carey and Hayes helped get us back some momentum.
First ten minutes won it for us. In general our forwards had a bit more about them and the subs made a bit more impact when they came on.
All in all itâs hard to see who will make the step up to senior. Flynn looks like he has the hurling for the next level, OâCallaghan presumably will get his chance although he was cleaned out in the first half and Brian Roche has a great engine. After that, not sure really. Will have to see how the likes of Power and OâLeary progress (the latter has very little pace unfortunately).
As for the lads that are actually on the panel currently, Connery/Barrett/Connolly did alright; Twomey was well-beaten by his man (who is a very good player tbf) and doesnât look anywhere near IC standard.
A lot on the age next year but we might lose Hayes to football. Not sure what the deal is with Barrett/Connolly, think it isnât yet guaranteed that we lose them out? Anyone know the rule?
Roche clearly over-ran the ball for the goal as well, got away with one there.
Cork are back
Barrett and Connolly canât play until Cork are out of the senior Championship, same would have applied to Connery (& Barrett?) last year.
Cheers.
And then clearly threw the ball as well. A bad one for the ref to miss.
What a stupid stupid rule. IMO the 2021 20s are as talented as the 2020 crop. Hard to see Cork getting out of Munster this time without Barrett and Connolly there.
Ah it is ridiculous alright. There is already a disadvantage having loads of players involved in senior panels, in that they wonât be training with the rest of the group and presumably will be filling key positions, but for that very reason, itâs not like theyâll be overtrained. No senior manager is going to allow them go 20s training if there is senior training on.
Itâs a terrible rule.
Clare are without Mark Rodgers and I saw that Shane Meehan & Cian Galvin werenât named against Kerry either? @Raylan @Big_Dan_Campbell ?
When that rule was brought in it only applied to football, have they extended it to hurling now as well?
