Official All Ireland Minor and U20 Hurling & Football Thread (Part 1)

What did Drennan score lads and how many from frees?

Not really. Don’t think we really dominated any game in Munster. Very lucky to beat Clare.

I agree with u on last point . I would be devastated had we lost to that KK team.

The kk backs were superb, had the limerick forwards in their pockets. Braindead stuff from limerick to continually rain high ball down on top of them. English & Coughlan very disappointing i though.

They would have only for the wide from 14 yards out

How did KK beat LK at all? Referee?

Better team won.
Ref tried to keep us in it but we failed to take the multitude of soft frees we were awarded.

Wtf?

Limericks decision making was poor… Over did everything and got swallowed up… Poorly coached. Puck out a problem all year. Kk were better on the day yet despite all that still only a 1 point loss. Baby Hego and CON missing too.

Congrats kk backers, well deserved on the day.

Thanks

Youve fallen so far you’re now reduced to taking glee from an U20s result

Fallen? :joy:

9 in total, I think. 6 from play.

This exactly, they never really looked comfortable in any game and the big names were either injured, burnt to the seniors or never caught fire.

A shame to lose the 100% record at this grade though.

Mullins out

I agree, fuck him back to Laois

Great shout.

Very disappointing result yesterday, we didn’t cope well with the Kilkenny sweeper at all tbh. But it was just little things, a lot of fumbling possession, touch being slightly off and Kilkenny were all over that then. There wasn’t a whole pile of space to deliver inside to POD & SOB and when the ball did go in, it wasn’t ball that was favouring them.

Kilkenny were better in the air, and were better on the ground and deserved the win. They beat us by 12 at minor, cut that to 1 yesterday, physically, they were stronger than us. Interesting contrast between Munster & Leinster hurling; that was by far the toughest physical contest we had all year where in Munster, massive scores were racked up.

Having said that, we had the chances to win it. Even at the end, the ball was initially fumbled but they kept the head and did the right thing to work it to the man in space, Coughlan missed- another day, he might have put it over, not going to hang a fella for that.

I’d still be quite confident we’ll get a good handful of seniors from this crop. 5 of them including CON already training inside, I’d be surprised if another 3-4 don’t get the call over the next few years. And again, awful shame that Cathal wasn’t able to play this.

Typically Mullins coached teams struggle with combating a sweeper system . We definitely struggled with KK physicality , but a great lesson for these lads to learn. I believe they played KK in a challenge in Moneygall a couple of weeks back so they knew what was coming but didn’t seem prepared for it. Congrats to KK.

English, CON, Coughlan, POD and ?
