No harm for Niland to have uncharacteristic poor day at the office by his very high standards either.

We’re a very sloppy sideline county at all levels. Can never seem to find a man short and it gets covered over by the lacks of Fintan Burke scoring sensational cuts.

Fair play to Laois. Galway never really hurled as fluently as they did last weekend against Clare. Bit more tactical today. Turned down a lot of handy points in the first half especially to go goal hunting and they messed up the final pass every time.

I think laois were unlucky. Galway had a few decisions here and there but at critical times. Burke was a standout performer. Laois could all hurl.
Was a scrappy enough affair all told. Nice to dig it out.

Laois’ full forward caused absolute war anytime there was a ball in he could pluck outta the sky. Very impressive.

Disappointed but generally happy with that on the whole. Think we made some Mistakes when the game was in the pot and allowed the referee make some easy decisions against us.

Shoot out with Clare now. Draw or win.
