Would a man be able to get in for free to the Louth v Westmeath game on Sunday if they go down after the Dublin v Meath match? Thinking of watching England game and the Dublin game in the pub and then going in for the second match with a few mates of mine from Louth. Will they just open the gates or will we be able to get tickets off the thousands of Dublin fans who surely won’t be hanging around to see the second match?

It’s possible. Usually there are ticket checks at St. Joseph’s Avenue (entrance to the Hill) but the majority of people on the Hill will leave after the Dublin-Meath match so the checks will be gone by that stage and you may be able to sneak in alright. I suspect they may be leaving before the final whistle but that’s another matter.

Carefully edited itself. Sad Kerry fuck with too much time on his hands.

Kildare are seeking a postponement of this weekends game. Not to sound prickish, but could anyone inform me of the grounds for having this game postponed? Players have lost family members in the past on the intercounty scene and games haven’t been postponed. Is it because of the mans own playing career this is to be postponed?

I suppose training would have been all over the place this week. Possible too that Dermot may not want to play on this sunday. Its a tough call. I’d say play it, life must go on. I doubt the man himself would want it stopped. I’d say this is a Kildare management thing. The respect issue is not to play the time of funeral, or have club games moved etc for people to attend. But that will be all over by friday will it?

I actually think its unfair of the management to put the GAA in that position, they will look bad out of it now with Kildare people. There is games the following week as well isn’t there?

didnt change anything for the o se’s father as far as i recall…

the dirty cork hoore.

Think it’s because the funeral itself may be on Saturday-obviously the son wants to attend the funeral.

My sentiments exactly, I think this is double standards by the GAA and if it happens I think they will be setting a dangerous precedent.

As regards Dermot Jnr, he was training with Kildare on Tues night when he was called back to the home.

Think it’s because the funeral itself may be on Saturday-obviously the son wants to attend the funeral.

A fair point I suppose, but still not sure about this.

Match is definitely on Saturday now.

Funeral is also on Saturday but the family asked for the game to go ahead.

They did, it was moved to Tuesday. Cork offered to wait till the weekend, but the Munster council pushed it midweek.

Fair play to them, being an Army man and a GAA man i get the feeling he would have liked things to keep on moving as originally planned. Presume Dermot Jnr won’t play though?

Remember there was a lad that hurled for Offaly think he was Mulhair and his auld lad died in the week leading up to one of the Clare Offaly matches in 1998…match went ahead although my memory is funny and I think he passed away the day before the match and it couldn’t be postponed…

ger devine tyrone goalkeeper is another. he didnt play the all ireland due to the death of his father.

Galway (SF v Sligo): A Faherty; K Fitzgerald, F Hanley, A Burke; G Bradshaw, D Blake, G O’Donnell; P Conroy, N Coleman; G Sice, S Armstrong, J Bergin; E Concannon, P Joyce, M Clancy.

No Micheal Meehan or Nicky Joyce. Losing one is bad enough but 2 very careless. Bradshaw aside the Half back line looks fairly weak.
Probably the best(only) combo we have at midfield and Mattie Clancy will probably rove with particular emphasis to mop up here.
Sligo are flying. They ought be favourites in my book.

Lazarus, has Matthew Clancy gotten a new haircut yet or is his Mother still cutting it for him?
