Official All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final 2009 Thread: KK vs Tipp

What a shambles. What a shambles.

looks like the cops are gonna read the riot act

Benny Dunne is some clown, an awful belt, wasn’t even looking at the ball…Probably cost tipp the match, once they went down to 14 men they just started knocking it direct which was like nuts to a monkey for the kilkenny backs, they were well on top when they were driving at the Kilkenny defence…Tipp lost it as much as Kilkenny won it…

Missed goal chances killed them really. They had a spell after half time where they missed some easy point chances and those two goal ones.

Penalty was crucial really though. Very soft one. Fair play to KK. They stayed in it long enough when they werent going too well. Some really accurate shooting. Who from KK even played that well? Tommy Walsh in the first half was outstanding but not as prominent after the break. Subs made a big difference. Fennelly I was delighted for when he came on. Comerford got the goal.

I just seen Link Walsh deck a steward there:popcorn:

Shocking decision by the ref to give that penalty.
Power had ran 9 steps before getting into the penalty area.
The ref ruined it with that single brutal decision.
Tipp, even thought I hate tipp, were the best team over teh 70 minutes.
They created the more chances and played much better hurling.
In the end Richie Power got about balls and ran and bulldozed his way through from 2 frees and 1 penalty and thats just a joke.
It’s fine to let stuff go out the pitch at times, but an all-ireland is too important to not get it right close to the posts.
Not an honorable win for KK today, you can see on their faces that they sneaked it thanks to the ref.
Great match up to that though. some hurling. Best two teams by a mile.

Yours in being back from holidays,
GSH.

Tommy Walsh MOTM, possibly HOTY.

Christy Cooney

The ultimate career politican.

It was a shocking belt. Had to go. Fair call. The reason he lashed out was because Walshe was hanging out of him. He should have been smarter though than to just lash back. Tipp still went on and could have won it. I the end, KK will have to buy a pint for the ref for a soft free that rattled tipp.
Also Tipp should have had a lad sent off for smacking power on the elbow.
Yours etc,
GSH.

No surprise to hear that was John O Brien, another Toome man.

Tommy Walsh had a fine game, Ryan made four sharp saves, fair play to him…Larkin went through a serious amount of work against a half back line that was well on top…Eddie Brennan made a super flick/block back on his own forth as well when the game was in the fire…

Fanning, O’Mahoney, Mcgrath in the second half, Corbett and Kelly were all outstanding for tipp…

Most boring victory speech ever.
Fook off Fennelly

What? He was great in the first half but absent for most of the second half. The best thing he did in teh second half was hanging out of Dunne and taking a belt for the team. He is still at the swinging of the hurling behind him before hitting and whe they were asking how he caught a particulr ball it was because he had his elbow in yer mans head.
All other teams, in order to beat tipp/kk are just going to have to be trained to be much more physical and take the 10 steps and swing wildly.
The refs are letting it go so thats the way hurling seems to be going.
Pity though.
Cody knows the score though.

Rubbish GSH, Tommy picked up a world of ball there in the second half.

Still no sign of Sheedys kids, GSH you should look into that.

Didnt think Larkin was that great until the last 10 minutes. Brennan hardly pucked a ball in the second half. Ya Ryan was excellent in goal.

I wonder how they thought that a few tubby 50 year old cops and a few stewards were going to stop all those people from being on the pitch for a 4 in a row.

They let U2 rip the whole thing up for a few hours of singing and then have a canary if a few fans run on.

“Jesus lads he’s wearing Docs, fooking hell, the pitch will be torn to shit. Take him down! Take him down! And the fella in the Nike Air Max. Those things will squash the grass something wicked.”
Muppets.

A few blatant fouls that werent picked up by the ref for both teams.

Handpassing seems to have gone out the window, most players just threw the ball.

I know it was slippy but the amount of times lads fell and touched the ball on the ground was unreal.

Good few lads very lucky to escape yellow cards. Not the referee’s responsibility to ensure the games flows whatever that crock of shit cliche is supposed to mean. Just implement the rules of the game and let the teams entertain.

flano, throw up the odds for the 5 in a row?
