On this day

23 years ago tonight.

The commentary is in Japanese but what the hell.

That was the final ever drive of Bill Walsh’s storied “West Coast Offense” by the way.

On this day In 1995 Eric Cantona Kung fu kicked a Palace fan.

Apologies, a tiny bit late, but we’ve just passed the 5-year anniversary of the day when Ireland matured as a nation. The day, 25th February 2007, when a crowd of rugby football supporting wankers sang along to the English national anthem in Croke Park.

Bumped for Totti.

Thanks Bandage.

On this day, 31 years ago, Bobby Sands embarked on a hunger strike that would end up costing him his life.

8 years ago today Cormac McAnallen passed away. 8 years. Unbelievable how quickly they go by. :frowning:

One year ago today Kevin O’Brien flattened the bastard English colonial oppressor in just 63 balls in the greatest Irish sporting achievement of all-time, sorry, I meant the greatest moment in Irish history.

Please refer to the Friday Poll and Eamon DeValera threads for the greatest moment in Irish history.

…next week  :pint: :ireland:

Notorious BIG was taken out of the game 15 years ago.

U2 released Josua Tree 25 years ago.

2007: A pivotal innings by Niall O’Brien steered Ireland home to a famous World Cup victory over Pakistan at Sabina Park, Kingston, capped by a monster six by captain Trent Johnston with the final ball.

It was a great day for Ireland all round with France denying the Irish rogbee team their first ever Six Nations championship win with a last second try which shouldn’t have been given.

Happy Birthday Trap

3 years ago tonight:

TFK AFC superstar midfielder Stevie G went down in a heap with a horrific knee injury. The consequences were numerous but included:

an ambulance arriving
a fire brigade arriving to cut the gates open
Oxygen administered to the stricken hero
Rocko arguing with the referee
Rocko shoving the referee to the ground
Rocko receiving a red card
Referee’s future career threatened.

In retrospect in many respects that night galvanised the football club into the force we are today. We stood up for ourselves and for our forum and it was a huge thrill when Stevie recovered quickly enough to play in our next fixture the following week.

FFS Stevie G the soft cunt.

The last ever match at Glenmalure Park took place 25 years ago yesterday.

Why don’t you set up a thread for “not on this day but nearly” so? If you’ve missed the boat this thread should not be ruined by approximations.

Thats very Farmer esque of you Rocko.

High praise indeed.

On this day in 1986, Viv Richards hit England for the fastest ever Test century in Antigua. One-handed six of Emburey and the one that he hits straight back at Beefy’s head are the highlights here.
