Only the 2022 National Hurling League? Only the Allianz 2022 National Hurling League

Who’s hyping up Waterford? After the KK game a few weeks ago people were hyping up KK, Cork until the weekend, it’s whoever is flavor of the week really with the media…Waterford have been hyped in previous years before only to flop…but I think Cahill and the management have them very grounded. There’s never a rumor or even a squeak coming out of that camp which is unusual for a Waterford team
The round robin is a minefield, a few injuries or suspensions to a team can completely change the outcome. Waterford have yet to perform in the round robin system, granted the previous two years were in D McG’s last year and Fannings first but I feel Waterford are always better in one off championship games
Too early to be saying who’s favorite for this or that, there’s a lot of hurling to be done yet

I dunno, I reckon he won’t start him v Tipp unless there’s injuries
Hard to drop Monty or any of the other lads after Saturday

It’s fascinating to see the now ‘weaker’ counties like Tipp, KK & Clare come into the championship under the radar.

Like someone said earlier, they’ll be a few surprises in this years championship.

Horses for courses… Kiely benched Gillane last year and it worked. Waterford can win games, particularly against a Tipp team at a low ebb, with Austin on the bench. Cahill is all about the buy in and you could see his anger at the sending off. He’ll probably start all games but Cahill is very much his own man and will not be afraid to make the big calls.

If Waterford and Limerick lost the first day it would be epic…

I’m not sure what semi naked oiled up men are in reference to?

Hard to break up a winning team too. Were they to lose against Tipp at home with Gleeson on the bench public sentiment might go against Cahill so for that reason alone he will start. It was quite telling that Waterford didn’t appeal the red card as they normally appeal every red card no matter how egregious the incident is. I think Cahill was quite happy for Gleeson to take his medicine and whatever learnings come with it. There is no doubt Waterford are the form team in Ireland and league titles are nice to win. Something Padraic and Brendan Maher both alluded to when they retired was that gap in the trophy cabinet where they had no national hurling league medal. However league form counts for very little once championship starts.

Anyone know if Limerick V Cork is priced up yet?

Limerick have generally being good in the league under kiely.

I’m surprised how many just brush aside how bad we are this time.

Cork weren’t great in the league last year and ended up in an all Ireland final.

They’ve definitely improved significantly. I’d be slow to right them off.

He’ll also give you 8/11 on Waterford to bate Tipp when powers are 4/9

We used to be like that only our hope usually peaked in November to be in tatters in April. At least you have only 2 months for your hope to be shredded

Any Cork poster worth his salt (and a good few Limerick ones) should be jumping on this.

He’s ok with taking bets off me on volleyball and basketball :joy:

The management love Monty so I doubt it will be him to lose out. It could be one of the Lyons’.

Calum has very little hurling done and might be minded for a while yet.
I have a feeling he will come in for Darragh Lyons.

Was at Limerick and Dublin in Celbridge on Saturday. Very competitive stuff. Dublin looked the much sharper team in the first half but Limerick came back into it. Gillane and Lynch didn’t start but apart from that pretty much full strength. Hegarty is filthy. Three bad strikes in the first half alone. Dublin started with Crummy at centre field and Whitley CF. Shane Barrett played very well at wing back. Limerick ran out 5 point winners.
