Four qualifiers in America (southern section) tonight.
The biggest one is probably Venezuela v Uruguay at 1am. Uruguay are staring down the barrel of not qualifying and a defeat tonight would cut them well adrift of even a play-off spot. Ecuador take on Argentina at 10pm and Colombia v Peru is already in progress. Chile also take on Bolivia.
Australia beat Jordan 3-0 this morning and a win at home to already eliminated Iraq in their final game will see them qualify ahead of Oman from Asian Group 2.
In Group 1 South Korea are all but there after beating Uzbekistan 1-0. Iran moved into the second qualifying spot ahead of the Uzbeks but must go to South Korea in their final match so the Uzbeks could well overtake them again. The third place teams in Group 1 and 2 play-off for the right to play-off against the fifth placed team in America (southern section).

There are two such play-offs scheduled for the autumn. New Zealand will take on the fourth placed team in America (northern section) while I’ve already outlined the other one above.
Africa’s five qualifiers will all be decided through play-offs this time and there are some big matches there this weekend.
Eamon Zayed played 65 minutes of Libya’s 0-0 draw with Congo in Tripoli last weekend.
they were meant to play Togo in Benghazi this weekend but the game was moved back to Tripoli as 12 fellas were shot and a bunch of people were raped near the stadium on Monday

Best of luck to Eamo[/quote]
This is the type of behaviour you would have thought more likely to be found around Tallaght Stadium on a Friday night, rather than Benghazi. Poor Eamo wouldn’t have witnessed carry-on such as this since his Sporting Fingal days.
Iran and South Korea have qualified for the World Cup after a dramatic final round of matches in Asian Group 1. Carlos Queiroz’s Iran won 1-0 in Seoul to win the group. Uzbekistan missed out by the skin of their teeth after beating Qatar 5-1, South Korea qualifying on goals scored. The Koreans missed a sitter with the last play which would have put the Uzbeks through at the expense of Iran. Uzbekistan now play Oman in a play-off to play-off against the 5th team in America (southern section). Queiroz taunted the Koreans at the final whistle. Apparently there had been a public row between the two managers before the match and Queiroz posed for photographs wearing an A4 photo of the Korean manager on his shirt.
im watching Jordan and Oman here, its on Eurosport for those who are interested. ive decided to waive the u-21 final as i couldnt get a ticket
That Eurosport commnetator who can translate interviews of various sportspeople from most known languages and has the remarkable ability to show up at the Tour of Poland in the morning and then be at the Toulon U-20 tournament a few hours later is at the helm.
Tim something or other is his name, Danny Mills is doing co commentary.
anyway its 0-0 from the King Abdullah stadium , there are posters of random political figures around the stadium and the game is terrible,
ill see it through tho
