Passport

Does anyone know what documentation you need to get the gardai to sign one of the passport application forms? I have heard conflicting stories about whether or not a birth cert is required. Also if I post it using passport express am I guaranteed to have it by tomorrow two weeks? (eleven working days)

Im in the same boat - they say its 10 working days

Lose another one Piper? How many is that now? You of all people should know the procedure by now! Immigration might want to speak with you also!!!

I lost my last one - worst case scenario they give out tempoary passports that last a year

Incorrrect gerrardno1 but my exisiting one is a bit worn and might not get through US checks. Ten days is by the time the passport gets to them Raven so might be twelve, thirteen in all. Always go in the day before your travel with proof of purchase and they will give you one.

i got a new passport recently piper. you just need to bring the passport form with some form of ID and your passport photos to your local Garda station.

i would recommend using the An Post Passport Express service. It costs 7.50 but i had my passport within a week so its well worth it

Yeah might do that. only problem is i’m flying out tomorrow two weeks which is exactly ten working days away. Might be a bit close for comfort. I’m going to travel to Express Passport Office in Balbriggan to find out. Lady in the Royal Mail told me today that it took her ten working days exactly to get her passport.

I wouldnt worry about what the Gardai need in evidence anyway. Your old passport is better proof than any driving license. Good call on changing it though - they nearly didnt let you go to Lisbon with it so theres no chance the States would accept it.

Did they not? Was that in Dublin or Lisbon? I was probably too busy making sure nobody stole any of Bandage’s cosmetics to notice. Sounds vaguley familiar though.
I went to Passport Express Office in Balbriggan today but got refused. Off to Dublin next Monday to queue up to get it on the day.

thought it was a lot quicker being done by post -check into it

It is normally but if you have proof of travel it can be done the day before you travel. Extra little charge of 20 euro or something as well.

It was in London. You got a right telling off at checkin and she was saying that she wouldn’t normally let you travel with a passport as tattered as that. USA wouldn’t even consider it.
