Michael Smith is an excellent player but just hasn’t been anywhere good enough in this match.
Average of 97 isn’t going to win anything.
Total no show but for some Exhibition finishing.
A very frustrating player. He can be superb but has never pushed on to the top table.
Left two sets behind him. Mvg knows he doesn’t need to be brilliant
Smith is very erratic, pressure of world final taking its toll. He’s thrown 10 or 11 180s but is as liable to throw a 57 and that’s his big problem. He can finish, but it’s getting down there that’s holding him up.
MVG won’t be beaten here even though he’s showing signs of wobbling every so often.
I really thought he’d put up a better effort than tonight.
Shocking amount of legs won by MVG where he got 6 darts & still no sign of Smith. Real anticlimax to what was a very good tournament this year.
Yeah he’s winning this at ease with no sign of a challenge. Pity.

Tbf, he has yet to win a tv event. Expecting him to win the biggest at his first go is a big ask. Smith will win a world title within 5 years. He has improve massively in past 12 months.
Yeah, winning a TV event is a massive help but he has been so inconsistent tonight.
I thought I’d seen something new in him in this tournament but he really just reverted to type tonight.
MVG doesn’t get the respect he deserves really, he is out of this world good. What he did to Lewis was spectacular.
