nah, the politicians pensions come from the same scheme. theyll look after themselves, and by extension me

one dreads to think what sort of payments would have to be made into private fund to equate to the same type of payout…

I didnt have plans for my 70s anyway…

The robots will be paying our pension by then hopefully

Isn’t the rough rule of thumb, 20 times the annual payment plus obviously the one-off. Based upon that, Art’s pension would require a pot of €830k or so. In reality, as he points out with increments and pensions the likely pot will be well over €1 million

Who wants to throw him into the Liffey with cinder blocks attached?

dont hate the player, hate the game.

Pot in the UK now capped at a million.

Thats only valid for people who joined the PS before Jan 2013.**
Anyone joining after this date is signed up to the SPSPS Scheme wihich is administered by DPER

Its a seriously watered down version of the old pension. Still better then most private pensions mind you.

SPSPS Calc

** Except for Army and Police (they are on fast accrual pensions as they retire early)

Most of ye be divorced and living in an apartment and not having a pot to piss in

You pay a punitive rate of tax on your pension pot here if it goes above 2m.

1 million here and falling.

Any lad with a bit of land needs to be just tipping away between 9 and 5. There’s enough stress at the farm gate before you add in the day job.

Tis true. No alarms and no surprises.

They don’t want to pay pensions to anyone and they tax the shit out of anyone who puts a bit by for their pension

It seems very counter productive to punishing people with private pensions when there is a looming public pension black hole.

That it is. Worse, they keep changing the rules mid stream.
