Player of the season for your team so far?

In the interviews Strachan gave after the Benfica game he commented on how often McGeady was in the gym and how it’s funny how the players who do the extra work in the gym always seem to be the guys selected in the first team. Reading between the lines, I’d say Riordan and Magic are two that don’t bother their arses.

player of the year : Ger o brien
Young poty : dean lawerence
u-21 poty : ciaron Kilduff
u-18 poty : Willie O brien
: Golden Boot Award : Tadgh Purcell

I took that from his interview too. I can’t understand the large body of the support who regularly call for Riordan to be given a chance. He’s not good enough at any facet of the game to get in ahead of the wide players or any of the strikers and then his physique counts against him completely. If he was stronger and more purposeful then maybe he’d get in but he seems satisfied drifting along.

Magic’s confidence appears to be shot. Rumours online today that he’s off in January to Celta Vigo.

For Philadelphia Eagles:

  1. Brian Westbrook - Another superb game on Sunday at the Redskins. Over 100+ yards rushing and over 80 yards in receptions. He’ll be key to our hopes of pushing for the play-offs.

Dublin GAA:

I’d have to say

  1. Ciarn Whelan - stood up when he needed to be counted
  2. David Kennedy - spokesperson for Thomas Davis. Standing up for what’s right.

Wexford GAA: The season is over but so far the administrators are doing a damn fine job of fooking things up royally.

List of off-season shame:

  1. Ger Doyle - The County Chairman who has made a Stephen Stauntonesque appointment in Jason Ryan as the senior football manager. A current player on the Waterford senior team, Ryan was the PHYSICAL TRAINER of Clongeen, the newly crowned Wexford county champions, and seeing as they were struggling to tempt a manager with a track record or relevant experience Doyle appears to have said, ā€˜Ah fook it, sure let’s just get anyone.’ Ridiculous.

Its easy to say Rooney or Ronaldo for United but my player of the season so far is Patrice Evra. Just never stops working for the team. He is always going forward looking to create something.

who do the champions league csc go for

Owen Heary for the Big Club, and probably Drogba for Chelsea, no surprises really.

When?

Kerry Gaa

  1. Darragh O’Se - Immense, finest midfielder of last 10 years.
  2. Marc O’Se - Immense, especially against Monaghnan
  3. Colm Cooper - Unmarkable

Dr. Crokes Gaa

  1. Colm Cooper - Unmarkable (Note: Gooch plays a different role for club in comparison to county).
  2. Eanna Kavanagh - Stylish Wing back, a loss to the club following his transfer to London

Munster Rugby

  1. Alan Quinlan - every forward unit should have an ā€˜Alan Quinlan’
  2. John Hayes - unreplaceable (well nearly, Tony Buckley looks promising)

Killarney Rugby

  1. Brian O’Sullivan - Never gives less than 100%
  2. The Committee - Tireless workers

Against Kerry. Game was lost but Whelan had a super match in the middle.

mmmmmmmmmm…i’m sceptical

He had a good game, i’ll give you that, but he didnt dominate.

He should have taken over the game when Darragh went off injured, but he didnt

He dominated the midfield to be fair. Some people expect him to win every kick out and go on rampaging runs forward every time he gets the ball. It’s completely unrealistic and not expected of anyone else. As a possession winner he was excellent against Kerry and he was head and shoulders above the other midfielders. That’s a big performance.

Whelan had an excellent season this year (for once) and thoroughly deserved his All Star. Cluxton and him were the only ones that did though.

Don’t think it makes up yet for the season after season where he failed to deliver though and where the only time he imposed himself on a match was to nearly give Ronan McGarrity whiplash

Leitrim player of the year this year - Dermot Reynolds. Kept Cormac Bane to one point in the Connacht semi (he after scoring 2-3 against Mayo) and was superb against Donegal at both corner back and his more natural centre half back osition where he scored an inspirational point

Wexford GAA:

Football:
Undoubtedly our only main star was Ciarn Lyng, who kicked a superb range of points against Laois in the Leinster Semi Final on the back of being our best player in the League. It was a shame Matty Forde still seemed to be feeling the effect of the prior year controversy as if both were on form together it would have been some inside forward line.

The main negative was the own point scored by David ā€˜Doc’ O’Connor in the qualifier defeat to Fermanagh. What a fool.

Hurling:

  1. Damien Fitzhenry - outstanding as he has been every year since his debut in 1993. The best goalkeeper of his generation.
  2. Keith Rossiter - a quality defender who excelled every time he played. Held things together as best he could when others were floundering against Kilkenny and was exceptional in the victory over Tipperary when he dominated both Darragh Egan and Eoin Kelly. Was also excellent in the run to the League Semi Final, especially in the QF defeat of Galway.

Bandage, Bandage, Bandage…i’m disappointed in you.

Surely you meant to say: ā€œIt was a shame The Great Matty Forde stillā€¦ā€

I’m certain it was just an oversight on you part.

Clontarf CC

Alex Cusack - outstanding performer year on year, handled the stardom of being Donnycarney’s first irish cricket international very well…less mentality tough people would have got caught up in the adulation etc and lost his focus.
