They werent far off the mark really when you think about recent stories like Avram Grant and TerryBridgate
Billy O’Neill faded badly after a promising first season. Probably too small to dominate midfield. John Black was a solid, uncompromising central defender. A real leader. He was a terrible loss.
To be honest I don’t think that many of those players really made much of an impact. I wouldn’t rate Sneidjer, Van Der Vaart or Zlatan highly, the former two in comparison to other Dutch players over the years, like Seedorf, Davids, Ron De Boer, Overmars, Bergkamp etc.
Chivu is a decent defender though.
