The testimony from some of the women in the podcast was heartbreaking. They are still carrying it with them 30nyears later. Gary O Toole was a proper hero.

They seem to have gotten some solace from the talking about it, and then being able to reach out to each other. But Gibney broke those people, intrinsically and I hope this brings them more peace. As you say, fair play to O’Toole for pushing the first rock in the landslide, that took immense bravery.
Horgan et al did a service here.

The Rest is History Podcast on The War of Independence is excellent. As a poster on here might opine, Lloyd George really gave Paddy what for in the Treaty Negotiations.

I’ve been listening last couple of days it’s excellent. Rouse is fantastic. I like that Dominic guy too , he was on the US election coverage and the Mooch used hang in his every word

What age would you put on Dominic?
I find his interludes very funny. There was a recent episode on Hannibal and i actually laughed out loud at his interjection in relation to breakfast.
I love Rouse and would listen to him all day, but these episodes on the WOI are very much a summary, I dunno would any Irish person get much from them.
He is mid 50s, Tom is late 50s afaik.
Agreed, but I found the Treaty Negotiations very informative and not something I had as great a detail on as the rest. Its a great Podcast.

The Irish History Show with Cathal Brennan and John Dorney is far better, but without anywhere near the same level of polish.
