This is a song that has been around a long time but only recently have I really gotten into it.
It’s superb.
War is Over
I have always wondered what the reaction to Lennon’s murder was at the time. Holy fuck it must have been huge.
It was huge. All over the news. He had just released a fairly bland single “Woman” that went number one for weeks on both sides of the Atlantic. A bit like the Elvis Presley single “Way Down” - one of his weakest - that was on release at his death that became a massive seller.
John was at his best giving a two finger salute or lashing out

Instant Karma.
That double fantasy album which was an ode to Yoko was soppy. I do like Watching the Wheels and Jealous Guy.
Roxy Musics version of Jealous Guy is the definitive version.
Alexa served it up to me last night while i was peeling the spuds ![]()
Wasn’t ’’Starting Over” the song that was released from Double Fantasy just before he died? „”War is Over” is older no?
Definitely. I heard the Roxy version first which kind of shaped my opinion.
You’re right. Woman was the next single released off the album.
Donny Hathaway knocks it out of the park
I heard a story from the political wing of Portlaoise prison the day Lennon was shot. They had a morse code system going where they would send messages the length of the prison by tapping out morse code on the heating pipes. ‘JOHN LENNON’S BEEN SHOT’ was tapped out all the way down the length of the building. A few minutes later 'WAS IT US THAT DID IT? came back.
Cool story etc.
Starting Over was the only decent track on it.
There wouldn’t be anyone comparable now.

A bunch of teenage girls and @TheUlteriorMotive would lose their shit but that would be about it.
Ah I’m pretty sure if she was shot coming out of her appt by a crazed fan who said he did it for Russell Wilson it would cause a bit of a stir across the planet.
Watching a few clips of Andre Rieu at Christmas on the YouTubes to get me in the mood… a cracking rendition of O Holy night had me bawling
Happy Christmas @Kyle
Same to you kid!
