Someone is a very angry young man / woman tonight. :-*
Listened to Liam Dunne on the way home there on Newstalk. His main points on the game were:
- Ronan Fallon was superb. He stopped short of saying “he reminds me of a youthful Liam Dunne” but he did say something about “I know a little bit about that position and he was excellent.”
- Wexford obviously had a horrible day shooting and should have won the game
- However Dublin should have had a free at the end instead of Barry Lambert being given the chance to win it.
- Dublin might have won it had Kelly been left on or moved to full forward.
Rory McCarthy seemed to barge some guy in the back alright before he won the free himself. That said Curtin had been mishitting long range frees all night but it would have been a chance nonetheless. Wexford had a few goal chances that they fooked up through carelessness/lack of composure as well as all the actual wides too and would have been left totally kicking themselves had they lost that.
I don’t think he was saying Curtin would definitely have scored it - just Wexford wouldn’t have won.
What did you make of yer man Fallon (besides the armchair ride he got from DOC)?
:-[
Fallon was indeed impressive. He lost his man on one or two costly occasions though, a bit surprising given the size and lack of speed of the cooont he was marking. Didn’t think he was quite as awe inspiring as is being mad out, there again I didn’t have a great vantage point at the game so I’m keen to see the video.
Wexford were lucky to get the free but Jacob was hauled down in the goal mouth about 5 mins before the end so justice was served.
