Premier League 2017/18

Otamendi destroyed Zlatan in the air

De Gea’s taken his goalkeeping to a new level alright. The functional football is like something from the mid 2000s.

Louis ended up 15 points behind the Champions in his last season, Mourinho is currently 11 behind in December

United can have no complaints, City were far better.

Pogba’s stupid red card decided the game, he has been immense this season.

Self inflicted defeat, two awful goals to concede.

11 behind a superb league leader, one of the best in PL history imo. Van Gaal was a poor fit for United, Mou is decent at least.

Marginally.

Bizarre reasoning, but carry on.

LVG bought/loaned horrifically - Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Depay, Di Maria, Falcao, Darmian, Shaw. Absolute dross that cost a fortune. Got rid of useful squad players too. He was terrible, all while playing boring, mind numbing football most weeks.

His only successes were Martial and the sub 'keeper.

Mourinho is miles better but still needs to overhaul it.

Lies, damned lies, and statistics.

They targeted the Milk Cup and long balled their way to the Europa League against developmental clubs (like Anderlecht and Ajax) who were trying to play positive but naive football with youngsters. But the second tier trophies don’t really mask what was a gaping gulf in class today. Sometimes it’s weird when a vastly superior team, like City today, end up getting a narrow win via scruffy set piece goals. The method and style of play between the teams was worlds apart.

Unlike the beautifully crafted goal united scored

I can’t recall City ever picking such an attacking side and dominating so comprehensively away at traffird. A gulf in class according to Souness, he’s not wrong.

They’re not that far away I think. The CL run will define the season. Need a consistent striker, lukaku isn’t the answer and Zlatan is done. Rashford the best of them, maybe give him a run centrally.

There’s a gaping gulf in class between City and the rest this season, the league table doesn’t lie.

Mourinho is well past his best as a manager. A celebrity appointment whose teams play caveman football and whose judgement of players has been shown to be seriously deficient.

Guardiola, Klopp, Conte, Pochettino, Ranieri, Dyche, Allardyce, Clement etc. are all miles ahead of him tactically.

Even Wenger’s Arsenal pummelled Manchester United last week.

De Gea can’t work miracles all the time and that’s what they rely on big games as the opposition will always outplay them.

Had you ever heard of Louis Van Gaal before he was appointed Man U manager?

Pogba was a big miss, since he came back from injury he’d been in great form. Team lacks so much without him.

League was gone probably even before today.

Sort of. They’ve equalled the 15 wins and 1 draw over the first 16 games of a league campaign recorded by the mighty Tottenham Hotspur of 1960/61. With a trip to South Wales on Wednesday night to face Paul Clement’s resurgent Swansea City, Pep would do well to reflect on the fact that Spurs suffered their first defeat of the 1960/61 campaign in Game 17.
