Comes across alright I think. We might be onto something here âŚ
This lad at Southampton surely gone if they lose this relegation 6 pointer to Forest
Heâs barely in the door there
Theyâll have the begging hat out for Ralph to come back
Played 4, lost 4 for Jones. The new manager bounce into the championship
Rodrigo is having some season for Leeds
It was a bit of an odd appointment.
Fair enough, he did very well with Luton but he was absolutely woeful at Stoke.
Now tbf, I think Southampton probably have the weakest squad in the league. Itâs really not very good so heâs up against it. I just think Hassenhuttl was doing as well as anyone could. They stuck with him through a few 9-0s; they lost a lot of their better players without ever really replacing them.
This is it, you canât keep selling every decent player and hoping you will find some young fella. Think they have the second youngest starting 11 in the league. Then again Arsenal have the first
Alan Sheehan is in with Jones made over 400 appearances throughout the leagues⌠A smashing left foot he had.
Whereâs bielsa these days?
you think someone would give him another go
Southampton were once the âmodel clubâ that Cheasty spoke of before Christmas. The business they did signing players like VVD, Tadic, Mane, Pelle, Lallana, Schneiderlinn, Wanyama etc. on the cheap was incredible. Brought through players like Shaw and Chambers to sell on for big prices too. Unfortunately for them that well ran dry and like Charlton and Swansea before them they had to pass on the mantle of âmodel clubâ to the likes of Brighton and Brentford. Iâd agree that Hassenhuttl was doing a grand job there. Kept them up comfortably every other year.
Bale, Wallcott.
Theyâd have been struggling a bit financially when they sold those too. Think they were in the Championship at the time. A serious academy production line. James Ward-Prowse unlucky to have never acquired a big money move.
I had occasion to be in southampton a bit when tadic was there and seen him live a good bit. Outrageous he stayed there in his prime. Was one of the best in the league
A nice City and a lovely friendly club
I think their previous owners sold up, and maybe they lost their director of football?
When employing that model, you need your transfers in to be hits more than misses. Obviously VVD was a big success but had a few big misses since then- 100m+ on Carrillo, Vestergaard, Lemina, Hoedt, Elyounoussi, Armstrong none of whom were real successes.
Signed some really young players this summer: Bazunu is 20, Mara is 20, Bella-Kotchap is 21, Edozie is 19, Lavia & Larios are 18. Which is fine and I actually think they all look promising from what Iâve seen, but itâs still a massive step-up from childrenâs football to keeping a team up in a relegation battle.
They pulled some lad from the city academy who signed a few with him for ridiculous sums.
Those young lads wonât find it any easier in the championship
Boufal who played for Morocco at the World Cup was another who went there and wasnât as good as expected in recent years. Suppose theyâve still brought in and sold on the likes of Hoijberg and Ings since then but the production line has definitely stopped. It almost felt like theyâd given up in the transfer market to some extent before the summer investment in youth.
I forgot about Oxlade Chamberlain coming through there too.
Wasnât it one of the Liebherr family with the Killarney/Europa Hotel etc links?
It definitely is a more hospitable environment for those kind of talented, attacking players. Yes, you get kicked around the place a bit, but you also get that bit more time on the ball. Kompany has brought in a good few young fellas at Burnley. You do need that mix though, but if you have a manager who is able to get them playing the type of football that suits them, they could do well.
Iâd probably be less worried about Southampton going down than I would be about the likes of Everton, who have money, but a load of shit players theyâll really struggle to move on.
She still has a minor stake. Sone serb has a controlling stake
