Not a good day for civil servants and accountants, turns out the Germans also had an accounting error.

The Greek people weren’t too shy about spending money that they couldn’t afford to though. They spoke a number of times by electing spendthrift fuckwit governments.
This is insane stuff, and I’m quite suspicious. I work in finance in a government agency and if I want to pay so much as a €40 invoice it’s got to be checked and signed off by two superiors. Then we have independent accountants who come in weekly to go through all our finances and outgoings etc. with a finecomb for mistakes. The same stringent guidelines should apply in whatever Dept of Finance office this mistake was made in. I don’t believe it. I think it’s a good news story put out there to distract us.
Lazy bloody foreigners
Talks of a military coup being averted in Greece tonight.
Almost all of the key members of the defence forces have been replaced in a surprise move by the Defence Minister
It’s easy to see how it could happen. In the midst of a crisis like this few options would be off the table.
Reported here:
Perhaps he’s getting generals in charge who will be willing to clear the streets if necessary if serious disorder breaks out?
Christ could you imagin it here ??? Would the FCA be called up ???
Greece was a military dictatorship recently enough? The 70’s I think. Or am I way off?
The late 60s/early 70s. The Yanks were all for it, defeating communism and all that.
Ya I just googled it their the military deposed the then prime minister. George popandrus (sic) senior. The current fuckers grandad. Talk about history repeating itself. How mad is that?
The current lad’s dad also served as prime minister. Apparently the military are a genuine threat now alright. I would imagine getting rid of the top brass is potentially explosive in this environment.
We live in interesting times
Scary times more like.
Is Greece the most powerful country in the world right now?
Yeah, the last time they had a referendum was in the 70’s to agree to remove the military
A lot of the Greek communists moved to Poland that time.
Maybe they’d be better off cutting their cloth, bring back the drachma and just doing their own thing. Classical studies, tourism, shipping and singing.
