R.E.M. Thread: TFK's all time favourite band

Let Me In is on there of course in response to Cobainā€™s death.

I think itā€™s an incredible song.

Not a chance I would say unfortunately.

I sense not. They had thirty years of it. Saw them live three times and I really regret not going to see them nearer the end. I think I stopped listening to them around 2003 (I was listening to a lot more alternative and punk stuff then and probably didnā€™t think they were cool enough anymore sadly ).

Around the Sun from 2004 is an awful album. The only real stinker that they had.

Yeah. I stopped at Reveal. It was too watery and my teenage music tastes had started to diversify.

You shine electric out of sight

I saw them live twice, 1985 and 1989.

One of my absolute favourites albums. This is also a dinge, pure beauty

I think thatā€™s a very meh song to be honest.

And itā€™s not a great album imo. A strange mix of some of REMā€™s best songs with some of their worst.

I think itā€™s where I was at the time. New Test Leper hit hard as did most of the album, especially E-bow. I think itā€™s stood the rest of time and has aged remarkably well. I revisit it regularly

Who is the Mike Mills replacement?

Iā€™m gonna say he got there by taking the last train to Clarksville
