Rats - A thread about Cats

We moved out the following April and bought our dream home. A 3 bed semi with a peninsula under the flight path… living the dream!

A Boeing wakes you, the cockerel wakes me, swings and roundabouts sure

I wanted to leave reporting this until I felt we are totally in the clear which I’m as close to 100% being now, anyway around mid November last year we started to hear a bit of activity in the attic (bungalow), especially at night, started to get progressively worse over a few weeks, missus knew a pest control guy through work they used in their pubs so he arrived towards the end of November, up he went anyway and confirmed worst fears, evidence of rat activity🤦‍♂️, did a full inspection inside and outside and determined an uncapped waste pipe leading into the bathroom was the culprit, lot of building work near us last year must have disturbed the fuckers. He set a few traps in the attic and said let’s catch what’s up there first and then he’d cap the drains, 3 loud bangs over the next week , he returned disposed of the cunts and then put in a metal cap under our outer manhole that leads to the mains, this allows waste out but spring closes at the other side so they can’t get in, he left poison on the mains side in 2 bags tied to the handle in the manhole, I checked a few few days later and it was gone. Anyway seems to have worked cunts obviously were coming up the drain and getting n through the obsolete drain into the cavity blocks and into the attic, not a sound in over 6 months and thankfully when they were up there they stayed there!

Probably the best option🤣

Bees, cunt.

Christ he did a great job. So there were three of them in there for possibly months and bar noise at night you didn’t notice any other evidence of them? They must make a right clatter of noise in the attic at night?

Weren’t there too long he thought based on droppings, noise at night was loud, said one would get in first and then others would follow tracks, also said our water tank was fully sealed which was a new one put in around 5 years ago so they’d have been in and out for water. He said 90%+ of the time it’s always broken/unused drains they use as access, he showed me the droppings near the unused drain at the manhole that leads into into the bathroom. It would have been used years ago by the looks of it but after we had work done on a new bathroom 5 years ago the plumber had rerouted to a new waste pipe out that was capped. He said traps are only useful for catching, problem won’t be sorted until the source of entry is identified.

I got a phone call from the brother’s mother in law yesterday… She’d seen a rat stroll across the hall into the study… the brother is away so she gave me a shout. I popped over and set a trap with a bit of chorizo then took juhy junior for a game of golf. I played alright but missed 4 very gettable par putts which was annoying. I also got the other lad i was playing to bring me up a rat trap.
Back to the scene… the little bastard had got the chorizo without setting off the trap. Reset the now 2 traps with chicken this time and left it for the evening. The brother’s mother in law has moved down to his house for the duration of the war.
Came in this morning after my 8am dentist appointment. One trap tripped. Food gone. No rat. Popped up to spar for the freshly cooked rasher and sausage from the hot counter… it smelt delicious… re-baited the traps… the game is afoot!

The rat is Maggie thatcher, I’m the Ra

Possibly too early to be thinking of the nuclear option with the brother away….

She’s probably exaggerating, may only be a few mice larking about…
