Re: Celeb Spotting

Spotted Noel Edmonds on Wicklow street, Dublin Saturday afternoon with his Crinkley Bottom out for a spot of shopping. Had a nice dolly bird hanging off him.

A double over the last few days. A high quality double too.

Friday, Ballsbridge, 2.30pm: I was walking down the lane near where I live and I saw this thing of beauty approaching in the distance. Petite, black hair, short black skirt, black tights and knee high black boots and carrying 2 Donnybrook Fair shopping bags. As I got nearer I realised it was Andrea Corr. I said ‘hello’ and she said ‘hi’ as we passed each other. One of the highlights of my life.

Saturday, Bar 51, 3.00pm: In Bar 51 Drico’s ex Glenda Gilson having a few glasses of wine with, who the bar men told us, was Johnny Ronan. Apparently he’s about 55 and was on the Sunday Times rich list a while back. Strange that Glenda seems to have fallen for a fatter version of the now very fat Eric Cantona.

Spotted Fran Carter of Galway Utd again in the IFSC on Thursday. He gave me a look of recognition so I think I’ll stop him and ask him what he does if I spot him again.

Then on Friday I spotted First Division Waterford United’s manager Gareth Cronin when he nipped into the romm I was auditing in to ask if he’d left his charger there.

The long since departed WhyOhWhy is working in an office/meeting room beside me today - surely that counts?

Tell him I said he was (and I presume still is) a baldy cock.

Saturday night at 12am in Burger King on Upper Baggot Street; Shane ‘Mullet’ Byrne munching away on a take-away. He was sitting on his own and was on the phone the whole time he was stuffing his face. He was wearing white puma trainers, blue jeans and a kind of cool, indie kid longish jacket with a furry hood.

Saturday night/Sunday morning at 2am in DTwo on Harcourt Street; Kilkenny hurler and former Hurler of the Year JJ Delaney in the upstairs bar wearing a red polo shirt. When he danced it looked funny as you could tell by his moves he’s an absolute bogger.

Are you gonna tell us who the hurler is?

Spotted John Delaney on Friday in and around Merrion Square. Was in my car so a bit pissed off I didn’t take the opportunity to nail the coont.

Gavin Lambchop Murphy in Tesco on Saturday night. Was surprised he wasn’t out and about.

Sydney Swans and Australia International Rules star Barry Hall in the Palace bar/night club overlooking Coogee beach in Sydney last evening. He was wearing jeans and a blue tee shirt. As an aside the talent in there was savage!!

Also reckon I saw that guy who used to play Reese in Home and Away a few years back, couldn’t be certain it was him as I was never a big Home and Away fan. He was in a newsagent in Bondi Junction and it was about 2 weeks ago.

That might be an idea for you sam.

Ruaidhr Conroy (of Into the West) playing astro in St Colmcile’s School in Knocklyon this evening. He had an assist for an equalising goal for his team, collecting a ball on the edge of the area after a mix up between 'keeper and defender. He tried a lob (I think) but got way too much height on the ball and it spooned up into the air whereupon Neelo (from TG4) looped in a header off the crossbar.

Music legend Dickie Rock watching the Liverpool United game in The Two Sisters pub Terenure/Templeogue yesterday morning. He was hidden behind a baseball cap, eating soup and drinking Club orange. Didnt recognise him at first but my brother pointed out that this guy was missing part of his finger which apparently, according to him, Dickie misses as well. Then the guys with him said to the barman that Mr Rock wants the TV turned up. As if he was some kind of superstar…

Think both farmer and myself forgot to post this one from a few weeks back (maybe it’s already up here though - can’t be bothered checking). McDaid’s off Grafton Street has become quite a tfk local after a certain section of posters got barred from Kehoe’s. Anyway, we were there one night early in the new year when I suggested that a guy up at the bar was the legendary Sunday World journalist, the voice of sport, Roy Curtis. farmer thought otherwise but then about 3 weeks ago myself, farmer and the late Ball Ox were in there sitting at the bar when the same lad came in. It was definitely Curtis. He seemed to know the barmen and even though the bar area was pretty full and we were actually sitting on the bar stools in front of him he spent about 20 minutes shouting over our shoulders at the two lads behind the bar. It was all about sport and he bamboozling us with his knowledge and astute opinions on the Six Nations and The Premiership. He then got the barman to turn on the TV and got text put on so he could look at the odds of that weekend’s sporting encounters and made a few really wily comments about potential outcomes. All the time Ball Ox was getting louder and louder saying stuff like, ‘‘Will this fookin’ idiot ever shut up?!’ Roy knocked back the last remnants of his Guinness and casually walked out the door. Legend.

I remember he was on his phone texting someone when magically two minutes later his phone rang. I think he texted someone to phone him so it would look good. He left mid way through his pint telling the barman to hold onto it as he may be back later. The barman promptly threw it down the sink!

He was spotted in there last Thursday as well. If we keep frequenting there then we are bound to bump into him - literally.

I think it was the Friday after the San Marino game and we were loudly commneting on how Staunton should go to see if he would talk to us. He didn’t - typical spineless fucker

Yeah, he was spouting so much scheidt that I was waiting for him to pipe up when we started our staged debate. For such a dick I suppose it is a plus that he juust minded his own business.

Near miss this morning - thought we had spotted Niall Cogley CEO of Setanta Sports on our flight to Heathrow but from a quick google image search it wasn’t he. It was definitely a Setanta executive though and in a thefreekick.com exclusive I can reveal that Setanta appear to be preparing a bid for the rights to England’s soccer internationals (or are at least considering it). Myself and Bandage undoubtedly impressed him with our loud deliberations of what pundits Setanta should hire and what sports rights they should be looking to retain.

Don’t know if you’ve been watching the new RTE show “Dan and Becks” - bit of a Ross O’Carroll Kelly show, very funny.
Spotted Dan who also writes the show in Krystle a couple of weekends ago… amongst other so-called Dublin celebs!

More information please. How do you know it was a Setanta executive? Also did you overhear his conversation about considering bidding for England internationals.

does meeting richie kavanagh in a dingy pub in carlow before he went on stage count???

indeed it does. you should also include mick mccarthy and his assistant taff (your idol) in gibneys on a summers day last year.

Richie was in his place of work, goes agains the rules set out for this thread
