Really admire Sutton for its pure beauty.
Meant scenic places, farmer. It’s all drink and fancying birds in work with you lately.
I love Avoca in Wicklow where the 3 rivers meet. Beautiful on a sunny summer day.
Portmarnock strand certainly fills me with awe…floaters akimbo.
Leitrim and if pushed for a town, Mohill - closely followed by Ballinamore and Fenagh
Ballymoney in wexford
Was down in Passage in Waterford on Friday. Beautiful place. Got the little car ferry back across to Ballyhack in Wexford and it was off the chain.
Stop stirring stuff Bandage - and I don’t know what you’re talking about
North Sligo is quite nice - a very underrated part of the country
Was up in Stormont for the Ireland-England cricket match last May and the grounds are off the hook. Absolutely huge place and in pristine condition too. Shame about the big statue of Edward Carson but you can sense the whole history of the place.
Grafton Street over Christmas…unreal. I have a question for Bandage: Do you know if Wexford Bridge is really the longest in Ireland?? Because theres a new Bridge opened in Co Louth and it seems longer than Wexford Bridge.Just curious…
Wexford Bridge used to be the longest bridge in Ireland. I’m not sure if it still holds the coveted title but with the upsurge in bridge building in recent years, like the one in Louth you mention, I fear it may not. Your task for the day, tiger, is to go off and research the topic. Report back here by 5.30pm so people will know the results before they leave work.
The Boyne Valley bridge is the longest cable-suspended bridge in Ireland which implies it’s not outright the longest.
The longest bridge upon my research is the Foyle Bridge in LondonDerry,It is 2.4km/1.5miles and connects to many roads on the Northern border.
LondonDerry? Never heard of the place, tiger.
I don’t think I’ve seen Wexford Bridge and the bridge in Meath/Louth doesn’t really do it for me. The bridge in Malahide village is lovely: understated and elegant, though the bridge over the River Santry in Raheny village (opened by Royston Brady in 2002) is a cracker too.
I’m a huge fan of Edermine Bridge between Wexford and Enniscorthy. It’s off the main road and brings you across the Slaney to a number of quiet rural townlands on either side of the water. It’s so narrow only one car can cross at a time, much like one of my other favourite bridges, the one in the quaint village of O’Brien’s Bridge, on the Tipp/Limerick border.
Seeing that we have resurrected the Worst Place in Ireland thread we may as well resurrect this one almost a year to the day after the last post on it.
Was in Adare in Limerick recently and I must say that it is a very pictoresque little village, one of the nicest I have seen in Ireland. Adare Manor is there of course and there seems to be a big park or something in the middle of the village as well of loads of cottages with thachted roofs. Really is a beautiful little spot.
Rathdrum in Wicklow, beautiful village built on top of a hill on the valley of the River Avonmore. Has about one pub per every 10 residents!
Keadue,Co.Roscommon.
It is a nice village but a pity it is in that shithole of a county…
And that’s the truth…
