Re: Leitrim team versus Galway

Bandage, Joyce came into contact with Gill who hit the ground as any goalkeeper would. Whether you agree or not, goalkeepers are a protected species nowadays - everyone knows that. To compare it to Geraghty’s goal is ridiculous.

It’s very annoying alright Farmer about people who patronise Leitrim - it’s water off a duck’s back to me at this stage. The Croppy kept sending me one word texts after the game - “Gallant” and “Gutsy” were the ones used most often.

A few of my mates have a fair few bob on Donegal to win the All Ireland. They are talking about having a handy draw and it is good that their suspended players are only missing an easy game - would love to be able to shove their betting slips down their throats come 7th July

Leitrim gave it a plucky shot & should be commended for the effort they put in

what is the point of doing up that stadium - they might only get to play 1 game a year there that it would be full for , it was far from full the other day

A Rovers “fan” talking about doing up stadia…the irony of it all

deal with the issue rather than attacking SRFC - why is it that they do up a stadium that at best will be full once a year - any taxpayers mony wasted?
why arent they in the Tommy Murphy cup like their midlands neighbours

why do you assume it will be full only once a year? there will be a fair crowd at the Donegal game I would imagine. It would be full as many times a year as 90% of Provincial grounds. How many times is Parnell Park packed to capacity ?

No, no taxpayers money was wasted.

Your lack of GAA knowledge is showing when you ask why Leitrim aren’t in the Tommy Murphy Cup. The Tommy Murphy Cup is for the 8 teams that will play in Division 4 of next year’s NFL. Leitrim are a Division 3 team

lack of knowledge of midlands & lower levels gaa would be more correct - it was far from full vs galway so I doubt it will be full vs Donegal

Having being at the game, I would not say that it was “far from full”.

I would say most counties would love to have almost 40% of their population supporting them at games

childish argument there -most counties arent inhabited by inbred yokels who have nothing better to do

why is a factual argument childish ?

the rest of your post doesnt deserve a response

you started a factual sentence with the expression I would say - strange fact
if they cant fill it mid summer in the biggest game of the year when can they

Didn’t see it that well cos I was down the other end but it looked to me as if he ran into Joyce and fell over. He had quite a theatrical dive (as in to try win a free rather than to save a shot) a few minutes before that. Pretty pathetic imo. Can’t see Leitrim winning their first qualifier ever against Donegal I’m afraid.

I have to say I laughed out loud when I read your Cliona Foley point Farmer.

My take on the game was that Galway were well worth the win and could and should have won by more. A couple of goal chances near the end for Leitrim might have made a difference but the Joyce “goal” was perfect and the keeper made an absolute meal of nothing. Home town decisions plain and simple.

Leitrim by no means disgraced themselves but they didnt really look like winning because it was hard to see them scoring at will.

I definitely think Leitrim are a very plucky and honest side. I expect they’ll put in a really big performance against Donegal too and probably get within 5 or 6 points of them.

Foley got the game spot on - that’s all I know. Are there any journalists you do like?
Saw Joyce’s disallowed goal there on Setanta for the first time . Definitely no goal. He stuck his arse into Gill as both jumped for the ball

Also less of the patronising tone please

Indeed and thera are some journalists I enjoy reading: like me, Bandage, Hugh McIllvaney, Kevin McCarra, Tom Humphries, Barry Glendenning, Robert Fisk, Gary Younge, Fintan O’Toole, Graham Spiers, etc.

If you still think Joyce’s goal was a foul you’re deluded. Why do you think he can’t stick his arse into the keeper?

good point -they will give their all against Donegal & wont be faulted for effort - they should be able to keep it to single figures
