Re: The Commonwealth

But when people support local players don’t you accuse them of parochialism Raven?

May I point out it is not called the English Commonwealth it is the British Commonwealth.

My point is don’t give me grief about it

It is more the fault of the FAI than it is of me

What do you want me to do about it? Go along and support Longford Town where I have no connection

My support of Liverpool may be driven by TV but there still is a connection there - you never walk alone and all that

I find if you get a bit pissed and go to a league of Ireland game you’ll really get into the spirit of things :drink: :drink: :drink:

So you are saying someone should support a bad product even if they have no want to, they just should because it’s close to home?

What makes you so repulsed by it Flano? You are an avid supporter of the EPL and a British club yet are physically sick by a suggestion that we could join the Commonwealth. Doesn’t add up to me.

Comparing the Premiership and the British Commonwealth is futile. No comparison between the two

Avid supporter? Where did you hear this?

Ah come on Piper that’s just ridiculous. If you don’t want to support an EPL team then fair enough and I agree with your decision. It doesn’t define everybody else’s views on every other topic under the sun however.

I’ll ask you again what makes so repulsed at joining the Commonwealth? Supporting a team in the EPL is a far bigger expression of British influence on Irish society currently than being a member of the Commonwealth ever would be imo. While New Zealand is a member of the Commonwealth I doubt if you went into a pub in Auckland you would hear people come out with expressions like ‘get in there’ ‘have some’ in their Northern English accents like you do in Dublin. Soccer AM has more of an influence on Irish society than a visit by the Queen ever could.

Bringing everything back to comparing every issue debated on here to the English Premier League is getting a little bit tiresome imo.

The Queen is the head of the commonwealth. Simple as. I never knew the goverment decided to become a member of BSkyB?

I agree it is Bandage but to me the EPL is a far bigger example of British influence on Irish life than joining the Commonwealth ever would be.

So the fact that the Queen is the head of the Commonwealth makes you repulsed? Are you repulsed that she is the head of state of a part of this country? Just curious Flano.

What part of the country. Im going to assume you mean the autonomous state of Northern Ireland.

I’ve accepted the fact Northern Ireland is, as of this moment, a seperate state, that is a indisputable fact. The Queen has nothing to do with the Republic of Ireland.

It is you that litters literally every single debate with references to the ‘EPL’. Just change the fucking record will you. With comparing being part of a Commonwealth to supporting an ‘EPL’ team, in fact saying that it is by far worse, you have completely flipped the lid

Hi Piper. It’s witch here. Don’t be getting angry and fighting with Farmer too much. The two of you are actually very similar and would get on if you would stop the bickering. I think you are both right. By the way, you passed me in the car this morning while I was going to the station and didn’t stop for me…Anyway bye :))

Tell witch to register herself farmer.

Good Witch, Bad Witch, Which Witch is Which?

Witch nipped in to my computer while I was momentarily away and posted. I’ll pass on the message about registering - that’s all I can do
