Re: Tinnion

What’s the budget Rocko?

Oh yeah - good question. Budget is 6 grand. Small bit more if needed. Just want something reliable that won’t break and is preferably NCT’d for at least a year.

I know youre busy but this is more important. Ive decided Im going to go Focus or Polo on your advice. If Focus is the way to go then I dont mind paying the extra little bit.

This looks ok no? Its not that many miles and its 2000.

I’ll have a look now rocko. I highly recommend focus and polo. Currently have 97 polo, cheap to run and very reliable. If i had a choice and didn’t owe the bank a shitload of money for holidays i took years ago i’d upgrade to a focus though.

That focus looks pretty good to me, interior looks clean so miles should be genuine. When your looking at it check out the interior-if it’s clean and there’s nothing messed up or damaged it’s a good sign it’s had a careful owner.

Offer them 6,500 i reckon and see how you get on.

briantinnion, do you have any recommendations for a first time car buyer who is literally at the early stages of driving and kind of soils themself when they get near a main road?

PS: How did bt become tfk’s car expert?

Only a person with genuine car knowledge could have come up with that

Sounds like dancingbaby but it happens him as a pedestrian. And it doesn’t have to be a main road either.

A lifelong involvement in the industry.

Thanks. Will they take the Punto off me? For scrap or parts or anything. It still drives so even though I’m not expecting money for it, surely it’s possible to get rid of it.

For the first time buyer you simply can’t go wrong with a polo bandage. Easily pick a 98/99 one for about 3,000. Recommend a one litre also as it’s cheaper tax, cheaper insurance, uses less fuel and there’s not gonna be much of a difference performance wise to a 1.4 litre.

Rocko-we all know you’re a young professional/dotcom entrepreneur with stacks of cash to burn but really make the garage think that you’re stretching yourself to buy that car, i guarantee you they’re makin about 1750 profit on that price

That’s almost identical to Ball Ox’s car (not sure about the year)

Imitation is the biggest form of flattery and all that

I was thinking the same thing.
Rocko, you should get in touch with Ball Ox considering he will be looking to sell, what with the moving to NY business

When is he moving? Is it a Focus he has?

Yeah - what do you think the last two posts were about

He’s moving around July direction

Yeah he’ll be fookin off early july. His car is in great nick if I may say so myself. Very rarely driven as well.

Tell him I’m interested. July’s ages away though. Will he sell it now?

I actually pre empted this when I saw that other Focus, its the same color as Ball’s. I let him know you were looking for a car and considering a focus, im not entirely sure when he’s looking to sell.

Thanks. Tell him he can come back on from the day he sells it if he’s quiet. If the price is fair.
