Red Mist

Programme about Saipan on Setanta at half nine. Looks like it might be worth a watch.

That was excellent viewing. The programme was well researched and they probably spent more on it than the FAI did on preparation for the tournament. That media lecturer was particularly insightful. There were a coupl of annoying characters. Particularly that pro Keane lady who seemed to enjoy the publicity. Looking back on it now Tommie Gorman probably summed it up best when he said what a waste. It really was.

Anybody know if there will be a repeat of this. I don’t mean the FAI fooking up again, I mean will there be a setanta repeat!

Yeah I would be very keane to see this. Is there a bittorrent available even?

I’ll put it online tonight if ye don’t find a source before then.

that old one was a wagon - heard her talking and switched the programme off

Where was the oul wan from? Some Mayfield scummer probably

I didn’t think it was up to much myself. But I watched it as I was hoping they’d play all those old interview/press conference clips again, especially the part of the Tommie Gorman interview with Roy when he did the ‘what about the children, Roy? What about all the little children?’ routine. And they did so I was happy with that. Also, Niall Quinn nearly in tears - what a clown. And that idiot Staunton backing up McCarthy in the press conference. ‘There’s a line that you can’t cross. And Roy crossed that line.’ Just because he cursed at his incompetent manager - what a pack of babies. That auld wan was full of it alright. She mentioned two ridiculous things - one was something about a Feloni film and the other I can’t recall.

that programme & the idiotballers getting knocked out of the world cup reinforces my hatred of international sports

That show didn’t tell me anything that I didnt already know. Just rehashed my memory. Keane still walked out on his country and that’s it really

What a ridiculous comment! You can place the blame wherever you want and I’m sure there’s still plenty of debate on who was to blame. That doesn’t mean you can get your facts all wrong in the process. Keane was sent home. Nobody disputes that. Not McCarthy, not Keane, not any of the other players so why do you know any different?

Don’t really know what you are saying there

I have debated Saipan up to my eyes and from initially being on Keane’s side I now take McCarthy’s. I feel that he left McCarty with no option but to send him home. At the end of the day he got himself kicked out and he knew how important he was

Agree with Piper and the fact it was such a shame

But he didn’t walk out. He was sent home. Did you miss the part in the documentary where it showed McCarthy in the press conference saying he sent him home or something?
