Well the parents kinda lost the run of themselves and gave the youngest brother a fairly dodgy nameā¦had a feeling it would appear in this thread alrightā¦but I didnāt think it would make itās debut within 15 mins of thread starting and then be repeated further down the line. Must report to the mother this evening!!
Your brotherās name is Dympna?
No, not Dympna.
I donāt know does this get to anyone else but it bugs me when generic Irish names are anglicised.
eg
San becomes Shaun
Eoghan/Eoin becomes Owen
Anyone else reading this thread see a name and remember someone youād still love to smack the head off?
Irene, Eithne and Leo made me a nod in agreement with their posts.
Heard one recently:
Harrison
Lad at school with me his second name was Benignus
Lad at school with me his second name was Mary

Yes, Trevor
There was a girl I was vaguely acquainted with in college whose first name was Storm. Yes, Storm.
Marcella
Wasnāt there a lady footballer called Marcella Heffernan?
Poor girl.
Was his first name Joseph by any chance?
Thereās a good few of those around.

No, his first name was John. He used to get a good bit of stick about it in School and then one day he just lost the plot and threatened to thump the head off everyone in the class. If it wasnāt for our strict gun laws we could have had a Virgina Tech on our hands.
There was one of them in Kierans too. Canāt remember his first name.
Have we had Peadar yet?
What a ridiculous name.
Hereās one for you:
Ultan - what a fuck up of a name
On that theme - Ulick.
Something thatās quite humourous is to imagine aul fellas, pensioners like, with first names which are quite normal for people of our generation.
Imagine going into a nursing home and seeing an aul codger called Gavin or Aaron or even less unusual ones like Declan or Barry.
For lads over 70 the name pool is ridiculously limited. Theyāre always John, Jack, Paddy, Frank or names like that.

I think thereās a ceromony once you hit 65 where you get your name changed to a more sensible old persons name. You must under go this name change before you can collect the pension. Itās kinda of similar to your confirmation name.
Any takers for Eunan?
Also, has anyone elseās name appeared on the thread?
Mine has.
I donāt think mine has.
