Rip Off Ireland - A thread for rip offs

Motor tax based on how damaging your car is to the planet

I’d have no issue with our prices mate if the extortionate tax that is being charged on it was spent for the good of the nation.
But now they are looking to elect 14 more slackers. If tax went where it should and where it was needed there wouldn’t be revenue to even consider 14 more Greens or FFG’s or anyone else for that matter.

so you are happy to pay more for fuel just as long as its not taxed much, you want your money going to Shell shareholders rather than infrastructure in Ireland - got you

Just counting down the days for the first of those green bastards arriving at my door, cap in hand looking for a vote

Not what I said mate. Oil companies have enough and are making enough.
Would you not question the use of taxation when the breakdown is 60% in favour of the government? I got you :+1:

you motherfuckers, improved public transport, stopped our kids being poisoned & are taking us away from a dependency on russian gas

grrrrrrrrrrrrr

i have no issue with high tax on fossil fuels

I’m all for increasing taxes if it’s ring fenced for the greater good but when you have the state subsidising profit-making multi-nationals by way of stealth taxes to ordinary citizens it’s hard not to be irked. Cunts.

That’s just the wagon you’re on mate. There’s always been high taxes on fossil fuels. You just don’t care where it’s spent.

it should be spent on the big public transport projects & retrofitting etc

Agreed. But…it…is…not :weary:

sorry mate, what does that mean?

Excuse the mistyping

How many ordinary people work for those multinationals?

Why should the state subsidise profit making companies at the expense of ordinary citizens?

Back on topic, brought the folks and the sister out for tea yesterday. Two hot chocolates and one tonic was 15 euro.
Steep enough that I wouldn’t go back even though I wouldn’t miss it as such.

Bag of logs 9.99 in Centra last night. Bag of logs 3.99 in Aldi today.
