Rip Off Ireland - A thread for rip offs

Only at Christmas and maybe Easter if they’re lucky. If I was having sandwiches I’d want something substantial like a steak or a slab of chicken. Packet ham sandwiches are a quick way to the coffin.

Get you in the six feet nice and quick

You can’t bate a Limerick ham

So you don’t ham all year?!

Looks expensive to me.

Would that be the norm?

In Druids Glen last weekend 7.40 for a Coca Colan and s bag of o’Donnels. Think the O’Dommells were 3.50

Anybody drinking Cappuccinos deserves to be mugged off anyway

We were there a few weeks ago - a cocktail €17. Place has gone a bit downhill too

You’d want to be seeing actual Druids after €17

Mushroom soup for that.

We were also there a few weeks ago and felt similar. Poor service in the bar restaurant. It was mrs js birthday so i paid for a massage that was a spectacular mugging off too. Having said that the food was very nice and i would go there in a flash for the steam room and plunge pool. Best plunge pool ive seen in one of those places.

Plunge pool was closed both days we were there but have used it before and deadly to clear the nut. Don’t want to come over all Braverman but they’ve loads of Indian staff who are beyond useless. Fucked up our meals twice and a few drinks orders.

Went to castle inn in Newcastle for dinner out the road one night - like chalk and cheese. Savage meal and half the price

Maybe I am used to being out foreign, but stopped in Charleville Park Hotel this morning for a cup of coffee, not a mug, a cup of coffee and a crossiant. €6.70. Is that cheap or dear these days? Seems fairly saucy to me.
A double whammy then, when I stopped in that Soda cafe near the GPO in Limerick city, and paid €7 odd for a scone and a flat white. Granted the flat white was nice, and a bigger cup compared to that morning. Price seemed steep enough as well, or is that the norm? I find it very expensive in Ireland this Christmas.

Its expensive. It will be interesting to see the Retail Sales Index figures for Nov/Dec… i think people are starting to feel the pinch.

That’s a joke, rip off €4 for a muffin !
