Roger Federer GOAT - Record Breaking 8 Times Championship Winner

To use a GAA, or more specifically a hurling analogy - the French Open is like the Walsh Cup or the Co-Op Superstores Munster Hurling Cup played out in the muck of January.

The Championship at the All England Club is the one that matters and simply dwarfs all other tournaments. The Final on Centre Court in early July is akin to the All Ireland Hurling Final on the first Sunday in September.

Does it ever matter in the french open? It’s beach tennis sure. Like you’d play with with the kids.

Don’t get me started about kids on the beach

Grass tennis is for big giraffes with a sledge hammer of a serve.

Of their 40 matches, 20 have been on hard court , 16 on clay, and 4 on grass. Nadal leads on clay (14–2) and outdoor hard court (8–6), while Federer leads on grass (3–1) and indoor hard court (5–1). A total of 14 matches have been in majors with Nadal leading 10–4.

so if you disregard the majors & focus on the end of season celeb events, fed is doing ok

Nadal was in short pants for a few of those grass wins too.

agreed

Wouldn’t have been much grass tennis where nadal was from in Spain either. So the fact he beat pederar at his peak at Wimbledon ends the debate.

Wimbledon ignored the world renowned atp world rankings too to suit federar so it puts a massive asterisk beside a lot of his titles.

In Australia they ensured he always played at night while nadal slummed it out in the height of the temperatures.

Federar was a fraud helped by the establishment.

French Open only about running around. James McClean and Stephen Hunt would reach the quarters there.

What a reception for the Great Man on Centre Court. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
