Great minds and all that NCCâŚI saw Tipp was 4/7 with PPâŚwhile 5/2 on Betfair aswell, then she went 1/3 with PP and I struck⌠There is definitely a mole in that judging panel and they send their soldiers in to mop up the cash when itâs over the line. They mustnât have heard of betfair though, probably old style punters from Abbeyfeale or something.
PS - Itâs a pity Ray DâArcy doesnât get dejocked or something at the end, would make the whole thing alot more entertaining.
What about the guy from the organising committee almost breaking down in tears on stage because heâd probably never see the Roses again? What the fook?! Agreed on DâArcy SS*.
Bit of an empty promise from the organiser guaranteeing a terrific week if you go down for the festival. I mean next year there isnât even going to be a race meeting to go to. It was up there with Galway in the 80s but itâs shite now, they got greedy trying to string it out over two different weeks and ended up torpedoing the whole festival.

does anyone else think that they should announce runner-up places to allow people to indulge in some each way betting. especially as the winner is nearly always the favourite it would garner even more interest in this lovely competition. if this was a horse race the bookies would prob pay out on at least 5 places. surely the judges whittle the group down to their top 5 in the search for a winner of this keenly fought contest so there wouldnt be any extra work on their behalf
Disappointed for my Coventry Rose but canât be too displeased that the crown wonât leave Ireland this year - the all-time medals table for the Rose of Tralee would make sober reading for the Brits. You can pump millions into track cycling and the likes and you may get medals but youâll never get the crown.
DâArcy played it shite at the end really. All that going to each Rose and addressing them by name (even though he claimed it wasnât his idea, then stand up for yourself you twerp) and he didnât even congratulate the Tipp Rose properly - bad presenting.
Thought it was nice to give a shout-out to Birdâs Amusements and Fossetâs Circus in the speech beforehand. That guy was one woeful public speaker. He said the festival âdoesnât just go on for the 5 years that the Roses are here but for 10 days.â And a crap token line about hoping it will be in Tralee for many years to come - of course it will dickhead. Thatâs what itâs all about.
Anyway congratulations Tipp. Never taking a tip from a certain member on here again.

That 5 years and 10 days stuff was hilarious all right. 'Twas funny in past years when that guy or his equivalent used to also thank The Order of Malta, The Gardai, The Civil Defence and Tralee Mountain Rescue and all these other random bodies that I would wager had absolutely nothing to do with a âbeautyâ pageant.
Cadburyâs Roses are missing out on an obvious sponsorship tie-in here. The winner could get a big box of roses and walk around throwing them into the crowd at the end. The idea of having a runner-up is a good one as then the organisers could have another girl ready to assume the crown if the winner said something that would bring shame on the competition - like if she said she preferred Quality Street for instance. Itâd be a bit like Llisa Simpson when she was Little Miss Springfield.
Also the winnerâs father should come on to the stage at the end and sing a rendition of âThe Sash my Daughter Woreâ. This would help the Rose competition break into the crucial Unionist market.
Copperâs should put some heifer in as a âCopperâs Roseâ - or would that be more of a Miss Ireland thing?
Away in the United Kingdom for a few days and have Sky +'d this, cannot wait to get home to watch it. Will revert with my opinion once I see it. I know a guy who in the same organisation as the Cork Rose, alot of money placed on her, alot of annoyed punters this morning.
