Respect?
DDR probably got his photo with Keane so he could back on the team bus and brag “I met guy who got destroyed by furniture shop salesroom guy in Scottish Cup”.

Roma had to bribe a referee to get past Dundee United so they have great respect for Hamish McJockstrap
Outstanding gymnastics. This is internetting lads. The rest of ye are just pulling yer todgers.
This is a great story to get the ‘Italians’ running for cover.
Heysel
Exhibit A!
Its incredible the mount of Roy Keane anecdotes balls.ie, pundit arena etc serve up continuously. I never found Roy Keane slightly amusing or entertaining.
He’s a deeply disturbed, self obsessed individual who put his own ego ahead of the hopes of a nation at the World Cup finals
Apart from when he got destroyed by the chimney sweep in the Scottish Cup
The same lads falling over themselves to let us know how much they don’t like Keane…
Has anyone mentioned the postman that destroyed him in the Scottish cup?
I’d say it was for a 5 year period.
Keane was a very good player who’s very highly rated by players he played against. I’ve heard of loads of Premier league players name him as the best player they played against or put him in all time best teams. The premier league is one of the top 3 or 4 leagues in the whole world.
Seems strange that he would get destroyed by a high school janitor in the Scottish cup if he was that good
Not the most skilful but he scared the shit out of his own players never mind the opposition. He’d have got on to any club team at that time so he was one of the best players in the world at his peak.
He was a fine player but Keane’s World Class reputation is based on performances against -
A Dutch team playing to get their manager sacked & a Juventus team that switched off thinking they had an unassailable lead
Like him or loath him he was a very good player who for 5 or 6 years dominated games. I saw him play 3 or 4 times and his work rate and ability to read a game was top notch. Obviously far more skilful players about at the time, and Vieria his nemesis was probably a better all round player but Keane was a bigger force. His passing was also very under-rated. He had plenty of faults but he was a top player in his prime.
The bitterness and hatred towards Irish people that are genuinely world class in their fields never ceases to amaze me.
You hate Elliott
In fairness his reputation was built on a long career asa consistently excellent exponent of his position, showing early on at Forest that he had it in him to be a rare box to box attacking midfielder with an eye for goal and becoming one of the hottest transfer targets in world football asa result, attracting interest from Italy of all places,
And then becoming a dominant steadying force in one of the best club sides in the world for many years,
We can play the game about the dog groomer in the Scottish cup all day but if it’s serious debate then we’ll need to deal with what his teammates, opponents and managers said about him, it’s not a personality contest
