RTE sportsperson of the year

Jason Smyth wonders whether he’ll see another Paralympics. You’d wonder about the RTE programme editors

A separate spoiler is circulating about the winners, which is likely to be correct as it names Dominic Casey as the winner of the Manager of the Year award.

The larcenous nature of Tony Leen, his habit of breaking in on us when we are least prepared and stealing the irreplaceable, has seldom been more painfully experienced than by anybody who saw his spoilers on Twitter tonight.

They have a bit of a blind spot for unfortunate quips.

Gavin Bazunu deservedly wins youngs sportsperson of the year. I’m fairly sure of the 9 odd people nominated he was the only male. There’ll surely be outroar over it

He should have won it when he saved the penalty vs Cork

Consistent with awards this year

Our lads whipped Cork hurlers in the all Ireland final and Cork too get no awards

A bucket of nuts

You wouldn’t see the winner of crufts being nominated… It’s no different, animal training isn’t a sport

RTÉ sponsoring animal cruelty
