Ireland are underdogs against South Africa. Currently South Africa 4/7. Ireland 11/10 to make the semi finals. Whether you like it or not Ireland are the underdogs against South Africa.

You seem to struggle with odds and probability. Bar a massive injury crisis hitting South Africa. They’ll be the favorites. Ireland will be the underdogs. It’s very easy to grasp. Unless you are simple of course.

The bookies rarely get it wrog
By the time Ireland play South Africa it’s quite possible they’ll be ahead of us in the world rankings. I’d say it could drive lads into a complete meltdown.
The rankings don’t matter
According to some they dictate the bookies odds. I’d agree they are largely an irrelevance when looking at one off games.
The rankings dont matter, neither do bookies odds - you need your own equation of probability – and only on one off games, not tournament long odds.

You’ve claimed Ireland are favorites based on the rankings now you are claiming the rankings don’t matter. South Africa are favorites with your beloved bookies.
Ireland are favourites because they are a much better team and have a much better manager … you wrote a 3 page essay outlining the same a few hours ago.
