Rugby World Cup 2019 - Ireland shit the pot all over again

There was a ref removed from the Ireland game?? WTF?

And that article says that the Spain match was played in the Rugby European Championship ---- I thought going by the lads here, that the 6 nations was the European Championship?

Does anyone involved in rugby have a single clue as to whatā€™s going on?

The Romanians do.

Good to show some of the newer bandwagon fans that there is a rugby world outside if the glamour of the 6N

Rugby is a serious business

Ah mate, what are you doing.

He should know better really.

Iā€™d expect much more from him. Iā€™m shaken from this if Iā€™m being honest.

Is Eire the only team to have ever competed in the soccer World Cup without a single squad player from their own domestic league?

Ireland in 1982 ??? Felix Healy ??

Iā€™m not sure mate. Iā€™m sure some of the South American and African lads would love to be so close to the richest footballing country in the world and to have the chance to make more money than they would at home

How many of the Irish rugger lads played AIB this year? very few iā€™d imagine.

There was no EPL in 1990 when Eire played in the Soccer World Cup. Its a damning indictment of what the soccer types would lead is to believe is soccer country that thereā€™s such a shit domestic league that Eire couldnā€™t provide a single domestic representative to a World Cup Finals squad. If thereā€™s all this supposed interest in soccer in Eire, why canā€™t Eire sustain a domestic league, which is something above pub standard?

The AIB, Irelandā€™s domestic rugby league, is worse than the LOI, mate.

You mean that we actually picked up a lot of British born players, who were nurtured in British soccer academies and lived there all of their adult lives and got them to play for the ROI.

By what metric?

Far more people who tog out in the Ulster Bank League will end up playing international rugby.

Thatā€™s because itā€™s easy to play international rugby mate

Sorry answer the question.

You mean that Ireland progressed due to many of the British born and soccer educated players.

Without them we wouldnā€™t have had the likes of Jason McAteer, Mick McCarthy, Jonathon Walters, John Aldridge, Andy Townsend, Ray Houghton et al lining up for us. Before Big Jack, the ROI game was nowhere, despite having major academies on our doorstep picking up our youngsters.

Irish rugby is criticised here for developing a competent and sustainable professional game. Developing proper academies. Nurturing player development at home.

Funny stuff.
