Rugby World Cup 2023/ Crochet & Knitting chit chat

Bundee Aki is louder than Hugh and Donal here

Samoa one try away from being the best team in the world.

The Raeburn Shield narrowly saved

Earls will go now barring injury you’d think. Stockdale has had enough chances and McCloskey is fine but doesn"t add much the other 3 don’t have. You wouldn’t want to be relying on the likes of Stewart and Herringm

Real bang of Italy in Ravenhill from that performance.

Stockdale is done at this level. At least for now.

He is like that Balshaw lad who used play for England

He never had it

Roger Uttley

Richard Cockerill would guarantee semi final with that draw imo

It is a bit mad that Cipriani appears to be the man with a vision for English rugby.

Yerra it’s a lot easier have an attacking vision than figuring out how to do it whilst keeping the floodgates closed at same time. Boks look like they have cracked it…one of the first things I was ever coached about defence was just hold onto the ball…

England are an absolute fucking pity though all the same

I think the Aussies are dark horses …prob beat eng or arg in a quarters then play a battered Ire/fra/SA/NZ in a semi and who knows …they won’t win it probably but they will play a big part in deciding who does…

England in truth have never had a vision beyond periodic periods where they used their pack. Under Woodward it was about being more professional than others. Despite the fact that Lancaster/Farrell can get a more expansive vision of a smaller playing group with Leinster/Ireland, when they were with England the focus was always on leadership/organisation. There hasn’t been a genuine attacking philosophy with England during the professional era aside from some murmurings under Ashton. I’m pretty sure every other Tier 1 team has had a phase of it, even if it was brief. English rugby has always been about getting Officer class players in the XV.

Borthwick was a strange appointment, the lack of English coaches is bizarre given they have a well funded league.

They’re dark horses because they have a great group. There’s no real fear for them until the semi final and it will be England at best.

Was he? Won the league with Leicester …a safe pair of hands…Fits exactly your narrative around officer class. But only knows one way and that don’t win world cups…
