I missed the final because I was out.
I was running with a kiwi this morning who alluded to some controversial refereeing decisions.
Were there any?
He thought Sam cane was unlucky, and kolisi was worse tackle. Also mentioned a penalty not given.
Yeah if only St Michaels had taught Kelleher to avoid Jordie Barrettās trailing knee.
I think this is the key clue here.

I see this report being discussed a fair bit this morning showing the abandonment of rugby union by the younger generation in England. A lot of the comments suggest the recent World Cup would have done little to change the direction of travel as most games were fairly poor spectacles. I saw very little of it but was under the impression reading reports here that it had been a good tournament. Now that the dust has settled what is the general view of the tournament?
Think DāArcy finished up very low key in November covering Leinster players after missing out on Ireland squad. Might be a small bit bitter.
In fairness to Nucifora, he kept the best lads in Ireland, added the few very useful foreigners (Hanson, Aki, Gibson Park, Lowe). Also picked Farrell and Lancaster which wasnāt as obvious at the time.
The big one against him is Van Graan, but in fairness he brought Rassie who is about as good as you can get .
Iām a bit underwhelmed with Humphries? He was involved with Ulster iirc, spent a fortune, disgraced themselves in a final; biggest glass cannon in rugby.
Iād love to see Rassie and Lancaster as next Irish coaching ticket. Or Rassie doing what Nucifora did, thereās nobody with a better eye for a player.
league ahead of union
woohoo
Iām imagine any young fella watching an England game didnt run out and start playing the game immediately anyway.
I wasnāt sure hence the question.
The problem with rugby is that the rules are capable of multiple interpretations, much more so than other sports. You hear this thing all the time about ācreating a pictureā for the referee in scrums. Thatās very random in fairness. Looking at the Ire/NZ game albeit only on Telly , I thought Porter destroyed the NZ scrum but he created the wrong picture and gave away multiple penalties. Ditto the red card/yellow card situations for high tackles. Referees and TMOs can find mitigation very often if they look hard enough.
Darcy has been very critical of nucifora a number of times. Particularly for ignoring the AIL.
He allowed a penalty to be kicked even after he apologised to Savea saying he recognised hed made the wrong decision (was a clean attempt at turnover/saffer was holding on). Penalty kicked and that score was winning margin in the end.
That was the primary one in my eyes but last scrum and inconsistency with red card/head contact the other bugbears from kiwis
All very true which deems ref interpretation all the more critical. Which is why porter can still be seen as a sap as ref told him to change and penalised him repeatedly. He never adjusted unfortunately to refās interpretation
Heās an absolute disaster for giving away penalties, Iāve never seen a player give away as many.
I donāt mind so much when he gives them away at breakdown in opposition half. Heās usually good for a turnover/turnover penalty every game or so which is unreal for a prop so wouldnāt want to take that from his game.
Itās when heās being told and still.fuckong does it, you canāt only but think heās a hamhead.
Heās an animal of a player overall but there has to be a question of whether heās more of a liability with how many penalties he gives away.
I often wondered if heās a bit dim alright.
Interesting given how the game has been winning out in the six counties.
Theyāll need to redouble their efforts to overcome badminton anyway.
Itās an issue in lots of sports. Rugby is at the more complicated end but so is the NFL.
Moaning about refs and technology seems to be common across all sports really these days.
